Whoaaaaa, it is 1 December.
Monday this week, was the 25th day of the month, which is pay day in South Africa. I am not sure if all countries around the world are the same. Nonetheless, it was money in and money out. We got the last payment in from PayPal on the Shombie Bus auction, so we were able to pay the Kids Pot Community so they can buy food to feed the kids they support.
9 Cats, 9 Lives. Only available at Rossouw Modern in Hermanus.
Signing a Road Work piece.
Tuesday we put the pieces together of the dismantled wine barrel that I was not so fond of. I do prefer it in a wall mounting position. I helped Chad pack the POP-UP shop for this weekend’s Greyton Art Walk where I was the Featured Guest Artist.
Copycat stole a rat, put it in his Sunday hat.
A close up of the unfinished, broken up wine barrel.
A collector sent me this picture of my decanter.
Signing a commission print.
Richie sent me a pic of him on his first day at his new Job. I Pilot Instructor in front of the fridge. Each new day at school I religiously took a picture of the kids in front of the fridge.
Wednesday was another admin day in studio. The house was like a train station with staff, kids and housekeepers cleaning up. I managed to finish a print commission for a client and then tried to spend some time on perfecting the last touches to the mini girl 3D prints that will become bronzes.
Early Wednesday afternoon I got the devastating news that Andy died.
What do you say when your best friend passes away at 60.
When Richie was born I was as told to keep your parents close and read lots of books.
The one thing that stuck out the most for me is that when your son turns 14 you need to let go as a teacher and find him mentors to teach him the stuff that dads cannot.
I introduced Richie to 4 different people over the next few years. I sat them down and said “my job as a teacher for my son is done, will you have the honour and take him under your wing and teach him life stuff”
They all agreed.
Well, at 40 I met Andy and he mentored me. He was my coach. We became best of friends, business partners and soulmates.
If you met him or knew him you would know.
No words can describe how beautiful he was and nothing I say here will explain my sorrow.
The rest of Wednesday was a blur until Joanne got home and took care of me.
Thursday morning, I trawled my phone to find such beautiful photos of us all together.
The other sad part is that life goes on.
Every time Joanne and I played backgammon we toast to Andy who taught us how to play.
So, every time we play in the future Joanne, and I will continue to toast to beautiful Andy.
No words.
Thursday morning, we all climed in and packed 45 prints for a corporate client Jock from Illios Travel.
I managed to finish off a set of 9 cats and decided to print an Olive daisy over and old painting, because I could.
Then it was time to head to Greyton, I was the guest artist for the Greyton Art Walk 2024.
Chad dropped me at Joanne, and we were off.
The drive to Greyton was long as there are 3 STOP/GO’s on the way. They need to put me in charge of everything. 😊
Joanne and I decided to snack on the Copper Cat Brewery ribs and chips for supper. They were delicious. We then had an early night as Friday was set up day and we had to be up nice and early for the Greyton Art Walk POP-UP.
Friday Chad arrived in the Caddy and we were off to set up. Joanne worked from out Airbnb. We put up the REBUL POP-UP in a record time of 2 hours.
The show opened at 1pm and we had lots of people and interest.
Friday evening there was a drinks event to celebrate the artists. Then it was off to the Post House for a Negroni or two and a long walk home, which was nice to walk off all the food.
Our bedroom view for 3 days in Greyton.

Enjoying life with Joanne, the love of my life. Reading books and laughing.

Bribing people to give away my stickers.

Convinced a Caledon farmer to put a Richard Scott sticker on his HILUX Bakkie.
Saturday we woke up, had an early coffee, and headed down into the town to the market and then the exhibition.
After checking in with everyone we went to the local market and got some pancakes for breakfast, some samosas for lunch and some of John’s potato bread because it is the best there is.
Greyton is famous for the roaming horses.
Horsing about.
Sunday was our last day of the 2024 Greyton Art walk. It was a real honour to be appointed the Guest Artist. It was very cool to mingle with all the artists and enjoy Greyton again.
Joanne and I releaving Chad for a lunch break.
Brent Weber popped in to come see the show. Super cool to see him again and have a chat.
Sunday morning exploring Greyton, while doing business at the same time with Frik at the Greyton Antique Shop.
At 1pm we packed up the REBUL POP-UP and Headed home.
Here I am now typing to you, at home and I am gonna enjoy a nice ice cold beer and a book.
Until next Sunday
