Monday was mixing blue paint day and then get onto painting over six artworks from 2007. The rest of the day was potting about doing Monday stuff.

New large format print just out. "Candy Swinger". 200 x 100cm (2m x 1m). Only Editioned to 3.
Signing the first one at ORMS.

Ultramarine Blue Paint.

Zoom Zoom.

Hendrik and I hung this piece on this wall for the wedding. I think it looks cool alongside the white and grey walls and, more importantly, my Bernard Matemera Zimbabwean stone sculpture.
Tuesday was booked for a day at Mervyn Gers to catch up on the Clay/Ceramic vases. I dropped Joanne off and had a quick coffee at SHIFT before I headed out that way. I did pop into Atlas Trading to get some seeds for Joanne’s seed crackers I make for her lunch every day.
When I got to Mervyn, and looked at the 3 vases I created, I realised that no being there for two weeks was too long, and they had all dried out. It was a bitter sweet moment breaking them up. Bitter because it was two weeks of hard work and sweet as I love learning from my mistakes. Excuse the cliché.
I got cracking on some new pieces and decided to follow a strategy of making 4 at the same time but only build up one layer a day. Well, that didn’t work either as I dismantled them just before I had to leave. I once again sat with a nice clean clear table ready to start clean next time.
I did chat to David, the Studio Manager, on the way out and he said he would get Kola to help me next time to start the process.
I guess I got to learn a lot by trying to make Vases from scratch. I did learn how to glue two pieces of clay together with vinegar. Yes vinegar.
After packing up, I picked Joanne up and we were off home via Checkers for a few groceries.
Wednesday I committed to doing a quick popup at the President Hotel in Bantry Bay Cape Town. The event was only Thursday, so we had time to prepare. Chad started selecting art and packing it in the POP-UP. The only snag is the REBUL POP-UP box was covered in Graffiti Girls on the one side. I realised the conference was a Family Law Conference so, I decided to quickly paint 3 trees onto the box.
It was actually quite cool painting on them. Strange how I have moved on from where I was to now getting excited about painting on the POP-UP box.

Here we go with the famous Richard Scott R4 Red Paint.

Hard at work. Weather is cold and warm as you can see with the Jersey mixed with the Flip Flops. :)

Applying the Black line with an applicator.

Some Orange paint next.

Painting on the "WELL USED" REBUL, POP-UP Box.

Some Yellow on the other side.

Yellow Me, Orange You!

More branches being painted black first.

Then the white is added.

Signature is last: r i c h a r d.

Protecting myself from the sun.

I really really love this piece.

And this Yellow Tree.

The orange one is the roughest of the three with all the buff tape and sellotape from the many travels this POP-UP box has had to endure.

Ta Daaaaaaa.
It took us the whole day. The sun was playing with, so that was cool.

30 x 30cm Metallic Trees. Ultramarine Blue and Silver.

Gold and Red.

The Ultramarine one is my favourite.
Joanne came home early afternoon and made us a yummy Mexican supper. That went down well on the deck and then it was checking out some more destinations for a Honeymoon and off to bed as I had to be in town at 7am.
Thursday was POP-UP day. As mentioned above, 5am get up and go go go. I actually enjoy getting up early these days. Must be my young age.
Joanne dropped me off at the President Hotel and Chad and I set up the POP-UP.
The delegates came and went, while I sat on the deck doing some banking and typing this blog right at this moment.

Hotel life. Sending Angelina my Daily Pic.

James in the UK sending me photos of his new gallery space and also sending me verbal messages blaming me for him having a gallery HAHAHAHAHA. Go James Go.

Sending James some photos of Cape Town life while listening to his messages.

Tyrone from Eye Art in Johannesburg posted a pic on Instagram of himself and the beautiful Candy piece he has.
Joanne worked from home on Friday, and I finished off 5 recycled Candy 30 x 30cm originals on canvas. The originals are from 2007.
I also helped Hendrik in the vegetable garden. The compost is looking really good and adding seaweed to it really accelerates the decaying process.
The tomatoes are in such abundance that I made a delicious tomatoe vegetable soup and a jar of chilli and pineapple tomatoe jam. We’re going to try some for Sunday morning breakfast with thinly sliced malva rye-bread toast.
Saturday was the stay at home day and leave the car in the garage. However, Joanne got a bee in her bonnet and wanted to stock up for the week as we were out till Wednesday. We popped into Checkers, and I also popped into the Nursery to get some seeds for the vegetable garden.
I did a quick check in the studio and then we both caught up with some Saturday afternoon chores.
Sunday we were up early and off to town. Dean booked the house for his 21st birthday party on Sunday. We decided to go stay with Daniel and Bianca at Carpe Diem Lodge in Green-point. We were a little early, so we decided to try the VEGAN market in Tokai.
Wow, who would of thought we could get such yummy food.

Trying one of everything.

Nomm Nomm.

Bringel Chips, Onion Bhaji, deep fried turmeric potato and Spanakopita.
On the way there I was talking to Joanne about my dreams. One of which was me cycling up Table mountain to get to Rotterdam on the other side to go get my paintings but, I was on a bicycle and that made me realize I was dreaming, so I woke myself up. Luckily it was 5am, so I put on the coffee and got ready for the day.
So, here we sit at the lodge, while I finish the blog and Joanne preps for the afternoon shopping. We are gonna take a walk down to the Waterfront to look see.
So, until next Sunday.
Thank you for reading and watching.
