Richard Scott Blog - 29th September 2024

Today, 29th September is the day my late sister Susan was born. Strange how you feel their presence every now and again, especially on days like today.

This week, with Tuesday being a public holiday, was a bit upside down. Wednesday felt like a Monday and Tuesday felt like a Sunday. Nonetheless, it was a productive week. Joanne kept me busy with lots of auction house catalogues and I even got to go into town for a change. A little different to when I used to go in every 2 days when I had the little studio shop in Woodstock.

Monday, I decided to give everyone off so they could spend time at home with their families for a nice long weekend.

It allowed me to do some end of month catching up and ticking off the admin box.

I took the time out to fix my old fishing net in the sun. I use it to save all the bugs and frogs that fall into the pool.

Craig from Auto Vivendi sent me a nice picture reminding me of our time there a few weeks ago.

Tuesday Joanne and I decided to attack the Vegetable Garden. Its that time of year to start planting the majority of the vegetables. Angelina even joined in. We planted everything from beans to leeks to cucumbers to brinjals etc. We even planted Aunty Jane’s 3 tomato variety seeds she gave us when we were in the UK. Plum, Beef Steak and Baby Plum. Looking forward to them flourishing in South African soil.

That nice feeling of growing your own food.

This year we took it a little more serious.

Angelina getting stuck in.

Joanne insisted we label each vegetable this year.

Cooking our spoils.

Soaking the spinach.

I use the off cuts to make our own compost.

Do you grow your own celery?

Cooking up beetroot stalks for Angelina's famous egg pies.

Wednesday, I got stuck into the studio and doing some more of them silhouette gold spray paint pieces on paper. The first four I did went out the door before I even finished them.

Thursday was a town day. Joanne dropped me off at her office and Angelique picked me up. We first went to ORMS to sign a print and then Deckle Edge to buy supplies and then Jasons Bakery to see a client and have some breakfast and a Richard Scott PTY meeting. We decided to cold call on Brent at Zip Zap Circus to say Hi and then on the see Chaeli and her mom Zelda at Chaeli Campaign where we caught up and started the fire going again.

Joanne and her little office.

Signing a large Red Tree print.

Gifting Rashieqh a Richard Scott Tyvek Wallet.

What an operation Brent has created.

The famous Chaeli Mycroft. Did you know I once pushed her the full 110km of the Cape Cycle Tour. Back when I was fit. It was great to catch up.

Spotted this artwork I did with the Chaeli kids years ago.

After that I was back at Joanne and heading home.

Friday was a nice, chilled day. I was in the studio a little but mostly on my computer creating PDF files for Joanne and her business Auction me.

Mixing colours.

Saturday and Sunday were also chilled days. We managed to get in a beach run or two and had the house to ourselves until 1pm Sunday when the kids came round. Joanne spent most of Saturday cooking. She did Cottage pie 2 ways. Mince and lentils. You could not tell the difference they were so good. Nonetheless it is cold in Melkbosstrand today, Sunday, and so I lit the fire and Joanne prepped the lunch.

Whoaaaaa.

Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday.

Wanna ride?

Until next Sunday
