Richard Scott Blog: 26th March 2023

We had a short week this week. Or should I say South Africa had a short week. Tuesday was a public holiday. So we kinda had a long weekend, but Joanne and I got stuck into odds and sods and used the time constructively to do all the odd jobs around the house. So nothing much happened till Wednesday. Monday was also shut down and we were advised to stay at home, so we both worked from home.

I forgot to tell you last week my lawyer appeared in a Pre-Trial Conference at Court with regard to that case of the Icelandic lady and German man refusing to pay for the 2m x 1m Candy piece that they bought in 2020. They didn’t settle so now the Trial date is set for October. Delay tactics. I’m learning about the law and how it works, quite interesting and useful.

I worked in the studio and had some good old fun like the old days. It’s a commission I’m doing for Klein Constantia Wine farm called My Sauvignon Blanc Tree to go with the Big Red Shiraz Tree

Weirdly enough, I got an order for 2 of the Gold Money Tree’s on paper. These are the ones that are hand painted with my gold paint in studio then Wim at Black River Studio Silkscreens on a tree in black and pearl.

Lawrence was working on the back end on my shop this week and it’s looking really good. I will put the link at the bottom of the blog.

Thursday I had a meeting with Mzukisi, a young artist from the Strand that Imibala took under their wing. He has a lot of potential and I want to work with Imibala and take him to the next level and create that Art Program I’ve always wanted to do.

Carl and Elle popped into the shop to pick up his Gold Tree Print. Carl designed the recipe for my first beer. It’s a Weiss beer modeled on Hofbräuhaus München.

Thursday night Angelina came over for a week. They are on school holidays for 2 weeks so it will be nice to have her around for more than a weekend. We’re not going away this time as were just gonna enjoy the house. Angelina made brownies for us all and we scoffed them.

Friday, I got stuck into the bathroom floor. There was a pipe burst as you know and the insurance company didn’t want to complete the job, so they paid me out and now I have to do it myself. I decided on simple pine this time so that the if the pipe burst then I can access it without having to remove the whole shower and shower floor.

It was fun to get stuck into some woodwork. It’s therapeutic.

Friday night was an early night

Saturday, we all got up late. Joanne had a 10am hair appointment so I decided to work on my new wallets I want to release. Angelina joined me at the table to study Geography. Afterwards we made lunch and prepared supper. It was another lazy afternoon playing backgammon and cards while sitting by the fire. I cooked the Chicken Sossaties Angelina and I made for supper. I made my famous tiny thin french fries that get eaten very quickly. I made myself a Chip Buttie with tomato sauce. The kids have a laugh when I eat tomato sauce as I also tease them because they put tomato sauce on everything. I remember once taking a bottle of tomato sauce to a restaurant that I knew didn’t serve it when the kids were small.

In my next life I’m gonna swap careers with David Higgs. LOL

We had another lazy early night and woke up late Sunday morning. We made Jaffels for Sunday lunch with either Chicken Curry, Joanne’s Bolognaise Mince Sauce or plain Cheese, Tomato and Onion.

Until next Sunday
