Richard Scott Blog: 26th February 2023

Monday Angelique sent me a picture of her client in Belgium who ordered 100 Ana keyrings for his wife Sophie. She is going to use them to raise funds for her cause. Heres the beautiful pictures he sent.

The rest of Monday was studio studio studio. I have got so much on in the studio at the moment I’m beginning to loose track. I asked Hendrik to sand down the construction piece because I want to give it a rustic beach look. Check it out and tell me what you think. I am still going to freshen up the white and black to make it pop.

I was signing prints and the pencil was to sharp.

Tuesday was a really great day. I met with Phumi the COO of the Desmond and Leah Tutu Foundation and we are making great progress with the Tutu Art Project. We have decided to sell the last 3 (Blue, Yellow and Green) of the 5 faces I did with the Arch in 2013. The top three are for sale.

Carl sent me a picture of him and Andy. Two of my Best friends and mentors in one picture.

Carl actually introduced Andy to me back in 2012 and the rest is history.

Henry also sent me a picture of the guys installing the Richard Scott STOP Street Roadwork being installed. WHOAAAAAA I love it. Not gonna be long before someone vandalizes it. You just know it.

STOP in at You and I gallery in Kloofnek Road and get your Richard Scott Roadwork piece.

After the Foundation I popped into the shop to see one of my German collectors and his friends. They loved the new space and walked out with about 5 items.

Quick catchup with Andre and Mira

The rest of Tuesday was home and early to bed.

Wednesday was more time in the studio and preparing for the Tutu launch on Sunday/Monday. I also packed up about 8 packages going out to clients. Angelique and Chad are really selling well. Lots of nice small stuff.

There was also two auctions this week with my art one at Ashbeys and one at Stephen Welz and the pieces did well. As always it is so cool to see the Auction Secondary Market Engine at work behind the scenes.

Wednesday evening I made Chicken and olives and bringel with the bringel we got at Cathy’s place in Stanford.

Thursday we got up early and I drove into town with Joanne. I got her a coffee at Tamboerswinkel and off to the shop.

Chad went off and ran some erands and bought us a fridge for the Gin and Wine in the shop. I packed some stuff as Chad was out and then it was off to have lunch with John from Hout Bay Gallery. John and I love Portuguese food so we went to Disa Tavern in Harrington Street. I got to meet Joe the owner from Maderia. Their food is the best and is simple authentic Portuguese.

Got to meet the owner of Dias, Joe.

After lunch and buying wine I picked Joanne up. We headed to go see Mahdis at Persepolis to buy some Persian Carpets then back home, light supper and also an early night.

I spotted this guy in the traffic on his phone. LOL

Friday was a blur. It was admin admin admin admin as I hadn’t done much all week and it is end of the financial year and month end and pay day. If you run your own business you will know what I was going through.

Saturday we dragged ourselves out of bed at 9am and went for a run on the beach. Afterwards we ran some errands and headed off to Tony and Alison early. Tony turned 75. We partied all night long and got to bed at 1pm. We stayed over as Tony and Alison stay in Somerset West.

We got up nice and early and said goodbye to our dear friends Tony and Alison and headed home as we had to prepare a roast beef lunch for the family. Everyone rocked up and it was a great way end the week.

Until next Sunday.
