Richard Scott Blog: 25 June 2023

This Monday I decided to try keep up to date on the blog daily. I got out bed and saw Joanne off to work and then got back into bed until around 10am. I wasn’t sure if I was sick but I had brain fog all day until around 4pm. I even thought of just taking the whole week off as Joanne and I are going away Thursday to Sunday to Montagu but you know me I started a list of things to do and started to chip away at them. Message Leah at Melkbos glass to replace the seals in the roof windows . Print out all invoices. Make a fire. Message staff weekly TO DO list. Do banking and emails. Set up appointments for Tuesday and Thursday. Make the chicken stock from Sunday's Chicken carcass. The list went on and I ticked it all off by 4pm when Joanne came home. Angelina sent me her report card with an average of 76%. Proud dad. Everything was in the 80's except Math at 55%. Apparently they had a really tough mid-year exam.

Alister King's famous Olive chicken.
A collector sent me a pic of the art he just purchased.
I saved the last piece of citrus cake for myself. The one Angelina made for me last Sunday.

Joanne came home at last after running some errands and we caught up on the day, made Alister Kings famous Olive Chicken in the oven. We scoffed half of it and decided to have an early night.

Tuesday was back to back meetings etc. It started with a staff meeting, catch up on sales and leads and production. Deon Bing and I were supposed to do our 2nd tequila conversation interview but we were both out of action as it takes 2 hours. News to follow. I will feature it on my YouTube channel. The past interview is on You Tube. There's a link at the bottom.

Then, Angelique and I were off to see Cheryl from Kalk Bay Modern Art Gallery. Cheryl has the most beautiful gallery I have seen. I can see why I will fit in. Next week we will take a selection of works to present to her and watch this space. So, if you are in the area pop into Kalk Bay Modern. I bought Joanne a nice big mug from ceramicist Clementina Van Der Wald as she always asks me for a big cappachino.

Meet Cheryl form Kalk Bay Modern

Back to my Gallery. We took the winding M3 road, that was blocked due to repairs from last weeks storm. I made it back in time to quickly jump cars and head to see Lawrence my Google man. We met at McDonald's in Montague Gardens. It's been a while, like years, since I have been inside a McDonald's. They have huge touch screens now to order like they did in the Heathrow airport 10 years ago. LOL. Anyway I ordered a small mini burger as there was staff lunch Pizza waiting for me back at the Gallery. The meeting went well, and Lawrence showed me how all the different campaigns work on Google Ads. Like I said last week, it's fascinating but Lawrence is on top of it and the money I’m spending is paying for itself and more.

Nom Nom.

I headed back to the gallery and there it was - the yummy Pizza from Connection Pizza. It was delicious.

I headed out to pick Joanne up. We had two appointments; a studio tour with artist Kyle Jardine which was very cool. Then a quick pop in to see Sbu at The Sneaker Shack to get 3 pairs of sneakers cleaned up and then home. Strangely enough every single robot, heading out of town, was green. Got to play the lotto.

Meet Sbu at the Sneaker Shack. Clean sneaker pic to follow next week.

We got home and snacked on yesterday's left over Alister King Chicken and fell asleep on the couch watching the last of the Arnold Schwarzenegger documentary. He lives a good life.

Wednesday we got up bright and early and Joanne headed out. She sent me pics along the way and it was still dark when she arrived at the office at 7.20am and it was raining. Still raining. We woke up to the news of those 5 people stuck deep under the sea in that’s submarine on an expedition to see the Titanic. Very freaky as this is an experience we would have done.

I spent the morning on admin and the afternoon on some more admin. I did manage to get into the studio and do some work and video footage for Social Media.

Joanne came home a little late after running some errands. One of them was to pick up our stash of Wagyu beef I ordered from Zuney Wagyu that I had delivered to the Gallery in Woodstock. So we're going to try out their Wagyu. I ordered 2 Sirloin’s on the bone, 4 burger patties and some Wagyu biltong and droewors. Nom nom, news to follow. Well the steak was amazing the next day after resting overnight. Joanne seemed to think it needed to be aged. I will need to speak to Andre as he is the dry aged steak expert. Early to bed after we packed the suitcase and excited for our weekend in Suidster, Montagu.

I brought out my Enrico De Paris Sculpture up from the wine cellar. Its a piece I bought back in 2004 with Marco Garbero.

These stencils do a lot of work.

Up early Thursday morning and we finished packing and were off. Joanne had to pop into the office and I had a few appointments. First one was at the shop as it's month end. 2nd one was Carpe Diem. Daniels lodge in Greenpoint. I went to complete the Gold Ana for him. I made a bit of a mess last week.

Artist at work. Earning his keep.
Gold Ana.

Then I popped into Orms and saw Lebo. We discussed framing the small stencils for a client. These are the stencils I used for the Richard Scott Gin bottles. There gonna look great.

Love this mirror gadget  that allows you to see the work framed.

Then I popped into the garage to fill up and stock up and headed off to my 12.30 facial with Wilscha. Joanne gets me to go for a 90 minute facial every month so that I look good and young. Hee hee. There's a reason people call us the perfect couple. LOL. You should try Wilscha, she’s at the Medi Spa behind the Mount Nelson in Kloof Street and you get to park at the back of the hotel.

Meet Wilscha. She makes me look young.

After my facial I picked Joanne up and we were off to our pod cabin called Suidster 20 minutes ouside Montagu for 3 days.

Weekend will be in pics:

 And were off.

Until next week.
