Richard Scott Blog: 23rd October 2022

Hello, Monday was the usual admin day but I started a new thing in my weekly diary. I made 3 column’s at the bottom with ART, PERSONAL and HOUSE. Each column I added in what I must complete that week in each of the 3 categories. ART Category I had to complete the Gin bottles, I didn’t. PERSONAL Category I had to sell some items in the house and go back to seeing Nadia, my therapist. Well I did sell some Takashi Murakami Plush Dolls I bought in 2003 and I booked Nadia, but had to postpone as it was Deans Valedictory on Friday.

Anyway, I did make my famous toasted chicken and mayo for lunch from the left overs and it was delicious.

Toasted Sandwiches fried in a pan. I learnt how to do them in Billings Montana in 1996.

I popped in to see Carl at his offices. He wants to catalogue his collection. Always good to see Carl but I forgot how much of my art he has in his collection. WOW, it was so awesome to see these works again. Look at the size of that Candy Joyride. I remember the days when I use to paint such big works. It almost looks intimidating even to me.

Monday afternoon was chill time with Joanne. Angelina came over for a visit before dance lessons. After I took her to dance, Joanne and I enjoyed our beautiful sunset.

Joanne and I have been wanting to go overseas since we met. We met at the end of 2019 and you all know what happens next, so we haven’t traveled overseas since we met. I haven’t traveled oversees in 4 years. Considering I used to go 10 days every 6 weeks, its quite weird. So we sat down and each wrote down all the cities we wanted to go to. We rolled them up and put them in a jar, did Ching Chong Cha to see who gets to choose first and Joanne won and she pulled out PARIS of all places. How weird that we are in love and Paris is the first city we are going to. So we are going to PARIS. Watch this space.

Mexico, Greece, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Amsterdam, Honk Kong, Fifi, African Island, the list goes on.

Monday afternoon I went for a Vitamin B injection to give me some energy. It did the exact opposite. I felt like a bus hit me. It took me a few more days to recover.

Wednesday, Angelique popped in to the house/studio and we did some research on auction houses and planned for the end of the year.

I also go stuck into signing some prints and Frans and I were working out the best size to mount them for display.

I’m going to launch the new 3D printed keyrings this week coming. Lookout for them on social media and on the online shop. Here is a sneak preview of them.

I had to pop in to Allied fiberglass in Maitland to get some supplies to fix the shower wall. Remember I drilled a hole in the wall and then the pipe. Well, the entire shower is fiberglass and not tiles as I dislike tiles. Fiberglass is like sliced bread. It’s just genius. Anyway, I got to see Janet. Janet knows me from 2008 where I used to be their best customer because I fiber glassed everything in my house. LOL. Always good to see her. She is my number 1 supporter after Carl Smyth.

Meet Janet. I always ask her how she does it by working in a Fiberglass/Resin shop with all the fumes.

This week we produced 2 more large Graffiti work as we sold 2 this month. One is titled Me and You. It’s basically the two girls on the left being best friends and they don’t want to be part of the crown I.E. the three girls on the left.

The second piece is titled “I love all of me”. It has Mandy, Tammy and Ana with crossed arms and she is saying “I love all of me” I.E. accept me the way I am.

Thursday was Dean’s matric dance and we hosted the pre-drinks and photoshoot. It was great fun and we got to know Danielle’s family. Friday was Dean’s Valedictory which I attended with Joanne. 3 down and 1 to go: Angelina.

 Pic of the day. Happiness.

Friday afternoon I took a few pics of the construction work in the studio garden. Angelique was asking me for them. These works are basically done on used construction panels. It’s a nice break away from canvasses and also nice to up cycle.

Angelina come over for the weekend and the weather was beautiful on Saturday. She convinced Joanne to put a bikini on and I put some shorts on and we soaked up some Vitamin D and caught up on our week.

Champagne on the Deck. Shortly afterwards I was in shorts and almost jumped into the pool but it was too cold.

Angelina got a nice pic of a ladybird trying to take flight. She saved it from drowning in the pool.

After chilling on the deck we played some cards and prepared for supper.

I got a fire going with the pine cones we foraged in Tulbagh. It’s amazing how well they work to start a fire. All my life I’ve been taught to light fires by Afrikaners. From Blitz to polystyrene soaked in petrol. One day I was sitting with an English plumber and he pulled out his Fire Torch and lit his fire. Ever since then I do the same. I even bought Richie one a few years back so he can follow in his dad’s footsteps.

Angelina and I made some mini pizza/taco thingies for supper using some old wraps that were a bit stale. We scoffed them. They didn’t last 2 minutes between the 3 of us.

New recipe on the block. Pizza Wraps

About to dig in. Angelina very proud of her creation

Its Sunday now. Joanne and I slept in to 9am while looking for flats in Cape Town. Then we got up and did our beach run and I whisked up a breakfast for us. Angelina only got up at 10am and went back into the rabbit hole just as quickly as she came out. Joanne and I prepared the Sunday lunch. We decided on a braai, lamb chops that we got in the Karoo, steak, chicken and boerewors. Richie and Victoire came round and so did Joanne’s brother Ian. We had a good catch up and an awesome lunch. Nice when the kids help you clean up afterwards.

Crispy Bacon, Prince Albert Cheese, peppers soaked in chilly and raw onion. We were both exhausted after our run.

I asked Angelina to do me a Tik Tok video of the key rings, which she did and I posted it. Tuesday they will be available.

I’m sitting back on the pool deck watching Joanne tan in her Bikini while i finish this off with a good Woodstock Brewery Happy Pilsner.

Vincent is coming to Cape Town for a few days to discuss the Tutu Art Box. So next weeks blog will have some pics of Vince in. Looking forward to seeing him and also finally getting the Tutu Prints up and available for you.

Until then have a great week.
