Monday was back at work. I was dreading it last week, but when I woke up Monday morning, at 4am, I was excited to get going.
Monday morning there was a was full moon, apparently full, but does not look full. Joanne said it was called a Woolf moon.
Joanne left early and I got stuck into my personal and work goals for 2025 and a strategy session with myself that spilled over into 8am when the guys arrived. Angelique, Chad and I ran through the pros and cons of 2024 and adjusted the sights a little more on the target for 2025. The new goals were set, and we were off.
Frans was back so the studio was alive again. We cleaned out and then started with the list of items Angelique sold over the holiday period. We were still busy end of day Tuesday signing and stamping and numbering and packing. It was great to be back. Last year was the first year we all took off a good solid month to rest from a crazy 2024.
3D printed stamps. As of 2021, I opted to print the stamps and not router them out of wood.
Zoom!
I woke up once again at 4am Tuesday morning and convinced Joanne to go for an early morning street run around the block. It was awesome to get up so early and get going. After the run we had time to sit on the deck and enjoy the sea with a fresh glass of sparkling lemon water. The weather could not make its mind up, but YR, the weather app said rain was on the way. And so, it did. As they say in England, strange weather.
Tuesday, from an art point of view, was a repeat of Monday with lots of studio work and Chad and I got stuck into Auctions and Auction strategy for 2025. Documents were created. Catalogues were drafted and Frans was still busy packing in the studio.
I completed a few road works pieces for Rossouw Modern in Hermanus.
Go Go Go! is the title for this piece.
This one is called "Let's break the limit".
You know you have arrived when you can inspire and provide content for other artists to create works for sale. Tyron, owner of Art Eye in Johannesburg, posted on Instagram that he just sold this piece by one of his artists: Louis Van Den Heever.
Joanne came home and I sat down for the first time all day. Joanne was equally exhausted.
I managed to catch up with Mark Gold, RE the rings for the wedding and then chatted to Nick Cursi about the cocktails and Bertus about the food. So, I ticked off my wedding list of things to do. I even finished the invite.
We decided to have left overs for supper and then the kids came home and took over the lounge till 9pm when we went to bed. I am not sure why, but I am having deep long dragged out dreams that I cannot remember. I need to write them down and analyse them :)
Wednesday was town day. I drove in and dropped Joanne at her office and hung around for a while. I actually did a little bit of work using Joanne's Wi-Fi while I waited for Chad to pick me up. It was Wednesday, so Joanne needed the car to take Mrs. Schneider shopping.
We stopped at Jasons Bakery and connected with Angelique and did a staff/sales/admin follow up over breakfast, coffee and a nomm nomm Paste De Nate to finish off.
First stop; Atlas trading to get some spices. I was first in.

Then we popped in to see my good friend and collector of my art Danilo at the Church in Gardens. It was good to see him and catch up. He insisted on cooking for us, and we got to taste is delicious homemade Pesto on some delicious gnocchi.
The man himself in the Church, Danilo.

We were running a little late as I had to drop off some Espresso and Cuppachino cups with John at Hout Bay Gallery, so we were off to Hout Bay and did that. John was only too happy to see us.
Then it was off to 4 different shops to get some studio supplies, before Chad dropped me off at Joanne and we headed home.
Getting supplies at Shelflife. One day.
Done.
Angelique took a photo of a client, Robert, who bought a piece of mine at Henry's gallery - You & I Art Gallery.
Thursday was a full day in the studio cataloguing and packing for auctions and adding the finishing touches to the weeks work.
This piece, which is part of a REBUL shipping box.
Having fun with a wine barrel.
In 2013 I did a money series of six works with a huge stash of Zimbabwean Inflation dollars. I strangely sold 2 of the works and still have 2 left. The client that gave me the dollars bought two of the original works. In 2016 I did 2 more works with about 200 bills from countries around the world. I got the bills of Vincent Van Zon while staying over with him and his family in Rotterdam. I spotted a whole load of notes that Vince said he had no use for, so Richard Scott’s brain kicked in and I took them and created two more Money pieces, one of which Vince bought, and I kept the other.
So, it’s 2025 and time to experiment with some more of these works, but this time as an extension of The Gold Money Tree and do them with real money. Chad acquired a load of old South African bank notes and here we go. Photos to follow.
Remember these?
Friday was work from home day for Joanne. We have been running all week on the road early hours of the morning at 5am, so decided to do a late beach run, if you can call 7.30am late, after we both caught up with staff, in my case and boss in Joanne's case.
Afterward we decided to go see a few companies that provide items for weddings. We ended up at the huge fabric shop in Wynberg where it’s the kinda place that you want to buy a meter of every fabric and then buy a sewing machine and start sewing.
Fabric shopping.
Nonetheless we did our drape fabric research and bought some material for Joanne to make some skirts for work and then off to the Shopping Mall (grrrrrrrr) to see a man about a dog.
Friday evening was chilled on the deck. Not to talk about the weather, but we are still waiting for summer here in Cape Town. It was very cloudy and cold, all weekend in fact.
Saturday was beach run, wedding arrangements, Netflix series and eating good food.
Sunday was repeat of Saturday with a two hour window of kids coming for Sunday lunch which we decided to keep simple with toasted Cheese or Chicken Mayo, Richard Scott style. Oh, and the newly famous sweet potato fries.
Until next week, thanks for reading.
