Richard Scott Blog - 26th January 2025

Sunday Sunsets in Cape Town with the Love of my life Joanne.

Monday I decided to get some more ducks in a row for 2025, as it was week two, and I wanted to keep the good, focused energy for 2025 going. We had a lot to do this week. So much going on that  I need to cull some of my ideas before I get lost in too many of them. You know how it goes.

Angelina was up early as she had a job at the local kinder garden looking after kids. She said she enjoyed it. She took lunch and supper with her as she was gonna be home late.

The guys rocked up and we all walked into a full strategy/Admin/Sales meeting.

It went quicker than I thought. I finished off the Splash Wine Barrel and a few more road signs.

Joanne came home to some pea soup I warmed up and then we were off for a vitamin B-12 injection with Joleen at the local pharmacy.

Tuesday I woke up at 3.30am and started working. I haven’t done that in a while. Before Joanne woke up at 5am, I had retyped all staff instructions for the day/week and send myself 30 reminders of things that were bugging me in the night. Joanne said I must have had a nightmare as I was shaking vigorously in my sleep. I didn’t remember anything other than that long list of stuff to do in the studio.

Nonetheless we were up early, and I saw Joanne off to work. I made myself a nice coffee and sat on the deck admiring my view before I started to address my long list for the day.

I always say it, strange how you get so much done so early in the morning before the noise starts.

Angelina woke up early and asked me if I wanted some breakfast. Angelina asked me what she could eat for breakfast that was savoury. Hmmmmm I thought. How about slicked tomato and thinly sliced raw onion on rye with a sprinkling of salt, white pepper and a few drops of vinegar.

Well, it was delicious. It was even nicer to sit with her and have a one on one breakfast. Hendrik rocked up, then Chad, then Frans, so I had to excuse myself and do my boss duties.

Leonard from Kids Pot send me a few photos of the kids that Shombie and I support.

Happy kids with full bellies.

I used the extra time to clean up the studio and do a post on the de-constructed wine barrel form The High Road Winery.

I pinned some spray painted “r” letters onto t-shirts for Nicola to sew for me and then it was time to head out to Franschoek to see Joan-Anne Harris about working together on helping me help her raise funds for her chosen charities. It was a long drive. I forgot Franschoek was 1 ½ hrs drive away. It gave me time to type this, here right now, hee hee.

Chad was driving, as he is now in charge of Auctions fully.

It was great to see Joan and catch up and talk 2025 business. She really is good at what she does.

We all shared a jug of lemon water as it was getting close to 40 Degrees C. The weatherman did say it was gonna be hot today. Yeah, maybe summer has finally arrived.

The famous Joan-Anne Harris and Chad.

After Joan we popped in to see a new client and dropped off a Richard Scott/Ignatius Marx lighthouse print. Then off the IMM university, where Chad had to collect his time table for the year. Then off home in time to catch up with Frans in the studio and Hendrik around the house and garden.

We had an appointment with Bertus Basson to discuss the food for the wedding. It was great to see him and catch up and chat about the food.

I finished up in the studio with some road signs and a few recycled works.

Angelina came home from work, and we caught up on our day.

Wednesday I was off to town. Blah, to have a meeting or two. The first one was with Selwyn to get some advice on a new venture.

Road tripping.

Then it was off to Muizenberg to go see the artworks I did for the Muizenberg “Save Our Beach Huts” Programme. They asked artists to give them art so that they could frame them in the pieces of wood from the old Beach Huts.

Great location for this exhibition.

They recently refurbished them last year and decided to do a Richard Scott and make money from something that would have been thrown away. Very Smart.

Helping others, help others.

Great presentation.

Zooming in on the wood that they used to frame the pieces. I bet the wood can tell a few stories.

Then a nice long drive around the peninsula to Kalk Bay to drop off art at Kalk Bay Art Gallery.

The Huts form a distance.

We had a quick juice and a quick bite to eat before heading out to Hout Bay Gallery.

Chapmans peak is always beautiful to drive along.

So beautiful.

John made us a coffee when we arrived ta Hout Bay Gallery. We got chatting about all sorts of different building material as we do.

The man himself, John Hargitai.

Messing about.

Some of my art on display at Hout Bay Gallery.

The it was off back to town to go see Charl at World art in Long Street and then to drop off at Ashbey’s.

Loving these works by artist Sihle Shozi.

I picked Joanne up and we headed off to see Nick Cursi from Shaker. Nick agreed to doing the Cocktails at the wedding. He is the best in the business.

Then home for a late lunch and a catch up with Frans and Hendrik

Thursday I selected 20 old stencils and spray painted over them as they are taking up space in the studio. I gave them two coats and Frans gave them a third. After that the guys rocked up and the rest of Thursday was blur.

Ready, steady, go.

3D prints off to Worldart in Long Street.

Rack em and stack em.

Richard Scott Backgammon Board accessories.

Packing, like a boss.

Recycling used Studio stencils.

Almost there.

Jason popped in to fix the pool pump. He is collector of my work.

Remember back 18 years ago.

Reflections.

Spinach is growing wild now. We eat it every day, either cooked or in Green Drinks.

Yeah, Jane's tomatoes .Finally!

Friday, Joanne and I worked from home again. We were on a roll doing early morning beach runs.

The guys rocked up at 9am, Friday time, and it was take it slow, finished off all tasks allocated for the week.

Stickers everywhere. Sent to me by a collector in Australia.

Saturday, we got up, did a beach run. I did some touch up in the studio before we went out for an early lunch with Joannes brother Paul. It was his 52nd birthday. It was nice to see him and celebrate with him at Aiya Sushi bar in Century City.

We came home via Tafelberg furnishers and bought a mini microwave for the house. We have been without a microwave for over a year.

Then it was home for a lazy afternoon.

Sunday was the same. Up early, me at 3am doing catch up, and Joanne at 5am. Beach run, clean house, make Sunday lunch, eat Sunday lunch. Swim and enjoy the 30 degree swimming pool, sit on deck and play backgammon and enjoy the view, do blog, plan for Monday, read a book, rest, bed.

Thanks for reading.
