Richard Scott Blog - 15th December 2024

On Sunday evening, last week, I made some delicious Chicken Burgers for everyone. Home-made is always the best.

Messing about with Angelina last Sunday. Taking pictures of each other eating the nom nom chicken burgers.

Monday was admin admin admin. I am probably sounding a bit boring starting my blog each week with Admin. But as us entrepreneurs know; admin is a big part of our businesses. Probably the most important part.

Yeah, studio tours are happening again.

Tuesday was a studio day. I found an old painting of Lego Man I did back in 2013. I was looking for a canvas to repurpose but could not bring myself to paint over it. I decided to rather repurpose the red sheep piece I did in 2006 from the nursery crimes series.

Signing a series of Graffiti Girl prints.

I found this work in storage. Forgot I did it.

All the pieces for the 2013 trip to Lego land in the UK.

Wednesday I woke up with the groggy feeling for the first time in over a month. Nonetheless I got up, showered, and headed into town with Joanne. Angelique had booked a long day of meetings and running errands. The first one was a staff business meeting at Shift Coffee Bar just below Joanne's offices. So, it was nice to be close to Joanne.

Drawing a picture of a French Hinge for a client to show them how to hang a piece of art they just bought.

Ta daaaaaaa.

The meeting was mainly about Wednesday nights SONGO charity auction and then we contacted everyone in Plettenberg Bay and sent them the invite to the talk I am doing there on the 19th of December.

Then we were off to see a client who purchased a number of my works on Jacques Lagrange’s Somerset Hospital Charity auction. I didn’t sign the one piece he bought. Eeeek. So, I signed it in front of him. He was really chuffed.

Meet Avukile and me signing the artwork in a hotel lobby.

My dot.com was in this building back in 1996.

While we were there we decided to pop in and go see Charl at his new gallery space in Long Street. Wow it was looking good. He has done a superb job at making the gallery look so professional.

Talking shop with Charl.

Beautiful 3D piece by Norman O'Flynn, titled Interior of Knowledge, at Worldart in Long Street

Then we were off to see a client who just bout 4 decanters and 2 sets of Capucchino and Espresso cups as Christmas gifts.

Our beautiful city.

Then I decided to pop into Vespa and see Tom and Mickey. We chatted and reminisced about Andy as he was a part owner of Vespa.

It was good to see them.

Mikey and Tommo from Vespa.

Then off to see Henry at his gallery in Sea Point. He was in good spirits as all the tourists were here and Cape Town was booming.

Spotted this re-sale in Henry's gallery in Sea Point.

The we struck gold, BRASH burger bar over the road was open for lunch. They normally only open at 4pm.

We have been dying to try their burgers for ages but were always leave town at 2.30 each day.

Staff photo.

Ok, the burger from BRASH got a solid 8/10. Presentation was: 8/10. The burger was a decent size. Not too big and not too small. You still felt a little hungry when you finished it. Which is how I like it. The bun was: 9/10. I do not like double patties, but these were smashed patties, so you could not even see there were two.9/10. The sauce was good: 7/10. The gherkins were good: 9/10. Chips were similar to McDonalds, which I actually like. 7/10. The only thing was that it tasted exactly like a Macdonald’s burger, but obviously healthier. We all agree it was the cheese that did that.

Nom Nom.

After brash I got dropped off at Joannes office and worked for an hour on my blog. Basically, right now 😊

Thursday morning, I had two studio tours in one day. Been a while. The morning went by quick, as we packed the parcels for the Wednesday night SONGO Charity Auction.

Then I drove into town as Joanne, and I were staying over at Cape Diem lodge. We were invited to Jacques end of year celebration party Thursday night.

It was great to catch up with Daniel and Bianca before we went to Jacques.

Andre just bought a Richard Scott wallet.

The famous GOLD Ana on the entrance wall to Cape Diem Lodge.

Richard Scott espresso for breakfast.

Friday we were up early. Joanne was at her laptop at the breakfast table working while I did banking.

We headed home around 10 and chilled and I got to read my book while Joanne caught up with the kids as they were all home for the weekend.

Celebrating the Gold Money Tree.

Popped in to see Shaun to pick up a client's piece.

Saturday was my Birthday. We headed out to Die Kantien, Bertus's restaurant for a Birthday celebration. You know me and birthdays. Blah.

Got the pic.

I feel 26. That number 5 is the wrong way around :)

Dani, an old collector of mine, popped in with an Italian friend to ask me if I would sign the frame of the 9 cats he had framed.

Dani was so happy I caught a pic of him staring at it on his way out. Always nice to make people happy.

Sunday was a wet raining read book day. I lit a fire, and Joanne made some oxtail for supper.

This week was the last day of the working year. There is still one thing I need to do before the end of the year, but I am on a well-deserved break.

Until next week
