This week was all about the ROAD WORKS Show on Sunday (today) 3pm at Hout Bay Gallery. Its currently 3PM and I’m gonna post this before the guests arrive. I will send you all some pictures of the event in next week’s blog, but in the meantime here are some pics in the making.

The works are also available online at Hout Bay Gallery’s Website. Address is in the footnote.

Monday was admin and getting the last pieces done for the show. I managed to squeeze in lunch with Carl at Blowfish. We shared the Monday special seafood platter.

I also launched the Seaside Village Print on Monday. It will be 3 different sizes:

201 x 110cm – R34 000 ex VAT

122 x 61cm – R14 000 ex VAT

42 x 24cm – R2 000 ex VAT

Tuesday, Angelique and I did a 2 day stint in Johannesburg. Our first stop was Alive At with Gabi and Clive. I showed Gabi and Clive the ROAD WORKS series and they immediately ordered 12. 6 for themselves and 6 for The White House Gallery in Illovo.

The next stop was Graham Britz’s new Contemporary gallery in Hyde Park Corner. It’s beautiful and the best gallery I’ve seen in Johannesburg. Graham and I talked for hours and it seemed like 30 minutes. He is a very passionate and insightful man. We agreed to work together on a project.

After Graham, we popped back home. My Johannesburg home is Andy’s house. We arrived at Andy and jumped in an UBER and went to our favorite Italian for supper at Sale Pepe. We had our usual crumbed calamari and seafood pasta.

We had an early night as we had to be up for a Vespa Joyride meeting with Andy and Brett. We have sold over 16 hand painted Richard Scott Vespa’s and only have 2 left in the metallic series. The Gold and the Copper. We sell each Vespa with one original Richard Scott painting. We brainstormed how to sell them with a small launch of the sorts.

I love you guys Brett and Andy

I picked Angelique up at 9.30 and we headed to go see a collector Jean and his son Aaron. Jean is on a bit of a spending spree with my art at the moment.

Chad sent me pictures of John and himself installing the ROAD WORKS banner on the front of Hout Bay Gallery building. What an honor.

That’s the famous John Hargitai on the ladder

Angelique and I were so exhausted I decided to treat her to lunch at Saint Restaurant in Rosebank to celebrate the successful Johannesburg trip. Saint is one of 4 restaurants by David Higgs, a dear friend of mine. We shared a pepperoni pizza and a bottle of Rose MCC. David’s Pepperoni pizza is the best pizza on the planet.

David and me, always looking out for each other. Did you know we were both born on 14th December? Our little connection

Wednesday evening, Joanne picked me up from the airport and we drove to Woodstock Brewery to watch the Comedy show Andre was hosting. We did two of the four acts and headed home as Joanne had an early morning and I was exhausted form my Johannesburg trip. The show was excellent we haven’t laughed like that for a long time. Andre’s food is always good we had the crumbed chicken strips and a salad. The beer of course was the best!

I bought a book by Siam Kidd that caught my eye at Exclusive books and read it while UBER-ing., I couldn’t put it down.

Friday morning was GO GO GO to finalize the ROADWORKS show. Joanne and I managed to squeeze in a lunch with the famous Chef and Wine Sommelier Denis Garret. He treated us to lunch with Chef Harald Breaselschmidt of Aubergine Restaurant. The food was paired with Champagne supplied by Pierre Mignon. WOW what a treat.

Saturday was Saturday with kids been dropped and picked up. Soon all car licenses, and cars will be in place as Dean passed his drivers on Tuesday. Three down and one to go. I sent the kids to the local pizza spot for an hour while Ian from Jawitz popped in with a potential client to buy the house. She was a lady from Bloemfontein and wanted a more “Afrikaner” house compared to our New York style palace.

Joanne and I made my moms famous Meat and Tattie pie for supper Saturday night.

I am going to sign off now because tomorrow will be a blur with the show. I’ll post the blog on time 🙂

I’m looking forward to seeing you guys tomorrow.

Richard

Monday was Easter and I learnt about “Luck and Risk” from the book I’m reading by Morgan Housel. It is a fascinating chapter where he describes how lucky Bill Gates was that he is where he is today. I thought...
