Richard Scott Blog - 5th January 2025

Monday, Joanne and I were still in our little Cabin on a farm in Ceres. There was a beautiful sunrise that I captured.

All we did was read books and eat good food. I cooked us some sirloin and fillet and we ate it with a small salad. We ate it for lunch and supper and had an early night after watching stars in the Hot Tub and then an early night. Pretty much an early night for the week.

Good morning from Ceres.

Boxes ticked.

Tuesday was a repeat of Monday. The farm however was busy, and we watched the guys prune and fumigate the fruit. I discovered that Phil farms seven different types of pears.

Farming is not for sissy's

Wednesday was New Years Day. Happy New Year. Joanne and I did the same again, read books, chill in the pool (cold hot tub) and eat good food. We had a nice rack of de-boned lamb ribs with chilli.

Thursday morning, we took advantage of the farm and went for a long 3km walk around the perimeter, admiring the awe of farming pears.

After that we packed up and popped over to say goodbye to Phil and Michelle at the main house.

Then it was off home. We took a slow drive and stopped off at The Secret Garden just outside Tulbach and the various Padstals (Road stalls) on the remainder of the trip home.

Me and Joanne, the love of my life, at the entrance to The Secret Garden.

The first thing you see is a beautiful sculpture surrounded by paradise.

Huge big Oak trees in the heart of the garden.

We got home to a very messy house at around 2pm. The kids had such a good time on New Years Eve, that Dean was still cleaning up when we got home on Thursday.

Joanne and I whipped into action and every single bed had new linen and the house was spick and span as was the garden.

Friday morning, we chilled a little and caught up with a little bit of work as we are now in 2025, and we had not done much for the last 10 days.

After a beach run we had breakfast on the deck and decided we would dedicate Saturday to wedding planning.

Joanne had a hair appointment at 1pm and I got stuck into that 2024 list I never finished. It was a long list, but I did it:

  • Start Blog
  • Invoice James
  • Do a Checkers sixty/60 mock up
  • Do a Padel mock up
  • Clean Windows
  • Research Pilates
  • Message the cleaners to come Wednesday (in South Africa we have cleaners that come clean your house, unlike Europe and England
  • Check with the supplies of the new Backgammon board Angelique sold in December
  • Plan the wedding outline
  • Plan the 2025 German trip
  • Pay a few suppliers
  • Set my goals for 2025
    • Health
      • Mind
      • Body
    • Wealth
      • Business x 2
    • Family
      • Kids
      • Extended family

Joanne came home and we started to watch a new series on Netflix called Madness which we binge watched till Saturday night.

That said we did go for a beach run again on Saturday morning. Then we popped to the mall where Joanne took advantage of the “SALES” and I did some grocery shopping, as the house was empty.

Saturday afternoon was cards, backgammon (Where Joanne thrashed me with her luck in double dice) and then we had a yummy lamb Schwarma from the left over lamb ribs from Ceres. We both agreed it was the best ever.

We ran out of Tassies, so we upped the game to an open bottle that was in the fridge. I will save you some to taste Les.

What are you making love? Chicken Stock, my dear. Show me.

Then as said above, we did Wedding planning and got it all done and then finished that series.

Sunday was coffee in bed, road run, prepare for Sunday lunch (braai), as we haven’t had Sunday lunch in 4 weeks, I think, bar Christmas.

I took advantage and made some pickled onions, using Joanne's Dad's recipe. We are both a little hooked on chilli pickled onions at the moment.

I just lit the fire for the braai, and I will sign off.

Have a super Sunday and once again Happy New Year to you and 2025 is gonna be the best year of our lives.

Thank you for reading.

Until next week.
