I just checked and I have done 21 Blogs since I started. That’s alot of writing and photos. Thanks for inspiring me to write them by reading them. On average 200+ people are reading all my letters and sentences.
Did you guys see the Auction at Russel Kaplan this week? They are selling one of re-my STREET BOARDS I did pre-COVID at the Biscuit Mill. One sold for R9500 and the other at R5500. Can you believe it!
I had lunch with Angelina on Tuesday and she was over for the school holidays. We took a Vespa ride to drop off her pants at the tailor in Bayside to be taken in. Then we went for lunch in Big Bay while he did his magic. We chatted about life, school, and studies. Nice to just sit and talk to your daughter whom you brought up from a small helpless baby and now she’s a grown woman with ambitions and passions and a mind of her own. Angelina is only one of 3 women in the world I can say “I Love you” to. Joanne, my mom and Angelina.
Love it when the kids don’t care what they look like. LOL
I was randomly going through the studio and wanted to check when I did this artwork. I looked at the back and searched my CODE BOOK and believe it or not, I actually painted the gold piece over the Hypnotic painting. I remember about 3 years ago wanting to redo a few pieces I did way back when but in gold. During COVID we couldn’t get canvasses so I painted over the Yellow and Red Hypnotic piece.
Ex ray this one day to see the painting below
This painting no longer exists
Wednesday night Joanne and I pack our suitcases for the 10 day Klein Karoo trip as we didn’t have time Thursday after work because we went out for an early supper in Observatory, Cape Town, before watching Angelina perform in a Dance Theatrical.
I stayed at home all week except Friday. Not normal for me as I normally go into the shop in Woodstock Tuesday and Thursday. Anyway, Thursday morning we got news that FOH (Richie and my 2 seater Aeroplane) caught fire Wednesday evening. Everything was sorted but the one cylinder looks like it needs replacing. Bit of bad news for Thursday morning, as she generates good income though the school. Anyway she will be out of action for 10 days and flying soon.
Thursday we went out for a supper at Ferdinados in Observatory before we went to see Angelina dance. The food was great as was the show the dancers put on.
The show was only 50 minutes but was so good to see the dancers.
Angelique sent me a picture that a client sent to her of the Richard Scott PACKAGE artwork he framed.
Graffiti Mandy that was once wrapped around a tube that contained the real art. Now Mandy is free to own her own space in the world.
Angelique sold a Small Graffiti print on Thursday. I took the opportunity to print a few out as we needed stock in the shop in Woodstock It still fascinates me that I sell these on my website for around R2000 and on auction they go for north of R5000. Yet I don’t increase my prices. I still haven’t figured out the dynamics of the secondary auction space. It’s like a whole other division of the art world that runs on its own set of rules. It fascinates me. However its more important for me as an artist and businessman that its runs without my input. As I have spoke about before its so important to be recognised in the space as an artist before you depart this world so that your brand lives on and one day 100 years from now I will be up there with the greats.
Did you know that I am very good with my hands and I built my own house. On Friday I decided to fit and plumb in a bidet that has been lying around for 10 years. I’m not sure why it took me 10 years to do this. Go figure. It won’t even be used. Blah..
I have decided to do some 3D printed key-rings and mini collectable ‘My Girl’ Sculptures. Here is a post I put on IG of the prototypes I’m testing for wear and tear and sizing options. They will come out in different sizes and colours. You will be able to collect all 100 of them.
On Friday morning there was an eerie mist that came over Cape Town. I tried to capture it while I was driving to the shop after dropping Joanne off. I tried to capture it with my camera, but you had to be there to experience it.
Angelique sold some prints to a client in Johannesburg. As usual I added some art and value to the packaging.
After fetching Joanne from work we headed off on our 10 day Klein Karoo trip. The first 2 days was Barrydale. It was such a cool experience. I’m just gonna bomb you with all the awesome photos.
We had a wonderful supper at Mez Karoo Kitchen on our second evening. We stayed at the Karoo Motel. It was better than the Hotel for us.
Sunday morning we left early for Plett via Route 62. Here’s a few road tripping pics. We didn’t take the N2 which would of taken 3 hrs. We took route 62 and the back road which took us 7hrs.
Road Tripping Route 62
Have you been in the room?
We took a detour to visit some life time friends Chris and Engela Basson in Groot Brak. We were suppose to go for a lunch but it was load shedding so Chris decided to treat us with one of his special braai’s. I even caught him Braai-ing. Chris taught me how to cook Potjie Pot when I lived in Agulhas. That’s where we met in 2003. We clicked and became friend ever since.
We left Chris and Engela and headed to our destination for 3 days, Plett. My friend Selwyn gave us the keys to his palace for 3 days where were just gonna chill…… NOT we’re going to do some serious Plett Art Business. Watch this space.
I’m exhausted and gonna sign off.
Till next week.
Richard
