This week I got a strange email from an insurance broker saying he was investigating a claim of theft. Someone stole 2 of my paintings from a collectors house. You’re only famous if:
- People copy your art
- Your art appears on the secondary market
- People steal your art
Here is a picture of them in case you are offered them for sale.
Candy Girls, 300 x 75cm.
Red Tammy, 150 x 150cm.
This weeks old picture is of me in 1988. My last year at school. I was studying. So that was my 17 year old study look. I thought it fitting this week as it was Angelina’s last week of writing her final exams at school. Who would of thought.
Not very happy studying.
Monday, I was up really early and dropped Joanne off and then popped into the Gallery quick before I headed out to a 5 hour meeting with my friend and IP lawyer Gerrie Swart. Well I say IP lawyer, I mean friend and sound board more. Gerrie helped me with my IP back in the day when he worked at Adams and Adams. He now works and manages the legal side of sports stars, mostly the worlds top rugby players. After the meeting with Gerrie, Selwyn and I went into a meeting with future venture partners on my Tequila. I am selling my tequila out of my Gallery only in South Africa as well as 100 or so in Plett in December. More news to follow.
Meet Gerrie and Selwyn you already know.
The rest of Monday was a blur other than eating the last slice of Joannes famous Banana bread.
Nom Nom
Tuesday, I woke up a little late and got stuck into admin admin admin. Probably time to get a full time assistant that does all the small stuff. The spray board for a collector in Plett was completed and will be delivered and installed in a week or so. Tuesday afternoon was also a blur.
Graffiti Spray Paint on Board. One more off to a collector in Plettenberg Bay.
Wednesday I Uber’d into the Gallery as I only had a 12 o’clock meeting. Selwyn and I caught up with the numbers on the Tequila decanters. It’s looking good.
Black Friday Instagram Post.
Messing about with my Tequila Partner.
If you have seen that movie called LOST IN TRANSLATION with Bill Murray and Scarlet Johanson, you can relate.
Joanne picked me up and we had a quick Lamb and Veggie lunch she bought from Tamboerswinkel for Angelique, Chad and me. It was nom nom. We headed home and had a ½ hour power nap as we had the “Friends of Mmusi” event Wednesday evening. We headed out around 5.30pm and arrived on time. It was great to see Anton Smit and Malcolm Solomon. We sat with Daniel and Bianca and I met a new collector Damien who bid and won both the 2 pieces I donated to Mmusi’s cause BoSA (Build one South Africa). The evening ended well and we had to help pack up. We only got home at midnight.

We managed to get up early Thursday morning and headed in. Amy and Thorne came to do Plett pop-up training for the day. It was great to teach them all about me and my brand. Chad and Angelique got stuck in as well.
Staff Lunch after a hard core study session
Rob Munroe popped in to collect his Richard Scott Tequila decanter and his bottle of Tequila. He booked 1/177 the first one in red. Andre from the brewery booked 1/77 in white. There is still 1/47 in candy if anyone wants number 1.
Meet Rob. Rob looks cuiffed, like me. Thanks for the support Rob. Your a legend.
Joanne picked me up once again and we headed to the shops and then home for a night playing backgammon.
Joanne was working from home Friday and I followed suit. Frans, Chad and I got stuck into packing some of the small 30 x 30cm My Girl prints. Angelique delivered them to the galleries in Hermanus. She took Amy with her so she can experience what deliveries and galleries were like. Frans got stuck into the High Road wine that I’m collaborating with and Hendrik finished off installing the corks into another 60 roses for the tequila decanters.
Packing prints. Do you have your set of 6?
3D printed roses with the corks installed.

Saturday I was still working hard ticking off boxes. Book accommodation for Plett, pay salaries, transfer money, Instagram Black Friday. Black Friday took up most of my time as I am running a campaign with 25% on my online shop. Even better for you, the readers of my blog, I made it 33% when you check out using the code BF33. Please keep to yourself and family. The offer ends Midnight Monday. I will punt it on Monday but only the BF25 one for public.
Here’s the link to the shop
On Saturday, I was updating my online Biography when I noted a link that I put in years ago to Art Price. I clicked on it and low and behold can you believe it I am ranked 7912 out of 17 Million artists in the world. It made my day. I could not believe it. I was so chuffed it made my 23 year career all worth it. Now to get into the top 100. I see William Kentridge is 371st .Here is the link
Saturday afternoon Joanne and I had the house to ourselves and we played backgammon and cards on the deck while doing Black Friday deals. LOL. We both fell asleep on the couch watching my favourite comedian Jimmy Carr.
Home made Burgers for lunch.
Sunday morning, we went for a nice run on the beach. Joanne swam in the sea afterwards. The water was very warm. We walked home and then Joanne potted around the house while I finished the blog.
Beach run with Joanne, the love of my life.
Got the pic. Joanne diving into the sea.
We made a huge lasagna on Saturday afternoon for Sunday lunch for Ian’s birthday (Joanne’s brother). Sunday lunches are back on now as the kids have all finished studying and exams.
Joanne and I gonna chill some more this afternoon and do Sunday afternoon stuff.
Until Next Week
