Richard Scott Blog - 21st July 2025

Right, this week was a cracker. Monday, I saw Joanne off early in the rain and then got stuck into the invoicing for the Shombie Charity Auction. We helped raise R50 000+ for The Kids Community Pot in Khaylitsha. They help feed 30+ young kids every day.

Here is one of the super imposed photos of a piece I did for Shombies Bus Charity Auction. Amazing what you can do today with software.

Signing the Circular My Girls Stencils.

Angelique sold this even before I signed it. LOL.

Tuesday was a blur other than Joanne making us all a big winter pot of her famous Vegetable Curry.

Actually I do remember going into town with Chad and making a stop off at one of my favorite restaurants to grab a NOM NOM burger and chips cooked in dripping.

Wednesday was pottery day. Or more correctly said Ceramic Day with Anthony Shapiro in Cape Town.

We had an early morning meeting at New York Bagels, then we were of to see Anthony and get our hands full of clay.

Potting around.

Chad successfully trying his hand at the wheel.

Ruan from Lost Wax Foundry sent me a few photos of the small Ana Bronzes coming to life. Here they are pouring liquid bronze into the molds.

Cooling Down.

Ceramic been removed to expose the bronze.

After Ceramics I had lunch with Bob at the Royal Yacht Club. It was nice to catch up with him.

Joanne fetched me and we were off home.

We were both in the mood for a classic movie, so we ended up watching Titantic into the night.

Thursday morning, we got up early and my plan was to go to Hermanus with Angelique and Angelina to visit Joshua at Space Modern. Well the Gods had other ideas. On the way to dropping Joanne at work we detoured to pick up Angelina. Halfway there the BMW started to overheat with all sorts of alarm bells going off. I was quite amazed at the technology as the car would not let me put my foot down. I could only go 30km. We pulled into a petrol station and topped up the coolant as instructed by the car. Well that lasted 30 seconds before the alarm bell went off again.

Long story short, we just made it to Angelina and managed to arrange a tow to BMW where the small incident resulted in to a R17 000 repair and no car for 6 days.

The decision was made. Joanne and I were gonna work from home. As we got home, literally as we got home, Joanne became violently ill.  So much so that she was still in bed Saturday.

So, it happens in threes.

I made sure Joanne was tucked in and medicated.

I carried on with meeting with the guys while Angelina made us all an English breakfast.

Angelina made Joanne and I a 5 year cake to celebrate our anniversary. It's my favorite: Orange drizzled sponge cake.

NOM NOM.

Chad was asking me for a nice image of this piece. thought I'd share it with you.

Friday Joanne was still sick, but was able to come lie on the couch by the fire and do a little bit of work. Angelique and I did a full Tequila recon while Chad worked on the Sabrina Love Auction catalogue. A nice big REBUL box arrived for Frans to pack a painting in as Angelique sold it to a client in Johannesburg.

This isn't the REBUL box but its a box full of my art going to Germany.

Saturday was lay in bed for a while. Joanne was feeling half better. I managed to finish some stencils off in the studio while Joanne potted around the house. She also wanted to make Tomato Soup because she ordered to many tomatoes at Checkers. It was NOM NOM.

Loving every moment together. Tomato soup and toasted cheese.

Toasted Sandwiches American Style; fried in a pan.

I remember as a kid going to the Wimpy in Plaza in Benoni, Johannesburg, and they would always put lettuce on the toasted cheese.

NOM NOM

Sunday Joanne and I celebrated 5 years together. Its been some of the best years of my life. I have found my best friend, lover and soul mate. I love you Joanne.

The first ever photo I took of us. We were at Overture Restaurant.

We decide to jump on the Vespa and see where the road takes us. It was rather cold, but we had no option with the BMW in for repairs.

Well I better go and celebrate.

I have to share these photos with you of some stencils that I left out on Saturday night.

Orange Carmen.

Yellow Uma.

Green Tammy.

Powderblue Mandy.

Blue Ana.

Until next Sunday, thanks for reading.
