Richard Scott Blog - 18th February 2024

The whole week was another GO GO GO week. 🚀 🚀 🚀  I was still on Dad duty helping Angelina get to UCT and back. She was still a little unsure about driving alone.

The wetlands of Cape Town, The lagoon is slowly drying up as the end of summer looms and the plants and birds await the winter rain to bring life back into full swing.

After dropping Angelina off I had a 9am Wallet meeting with Simba and Chantel.

Always helpful and always smiling. Simba at Robin Sprong Wallpaper.

Then it was off to see Mahdis and sort out a few bits and pieces with her space on Buitengracht. The rest of Monday was admin. I'm still so amazed at how many bills I pay. Even Joanne was flabbergasted when she was helping me file my receipts. I was again alone in the Gallery, so I used the quite time to catch up on admin. I picked Angelina up and we headed home. Joanne and I made Danilo's prawn salad and we all tucked in.

Danilo's famous Catalana Prawn Salad.

Edward Pronk sent me this picture of one of my stickers stuck onto a part of a Yacht in Cape Town. Slowly taking over the world.

I had to share this old photo of Joanne and I seeing as though it is Valentines week and you can see how much we are in love.

Sending Joanne a selfie after she asked me what I'm doing.

"I am drinking tea and ticking off boxes babe" was my answer.

Nice clean shop/gallery.

Tuesday I was in Hout Bay at 8am already. All the way from Melkbos to Hout Bay. On any normal day that would take about 90 minutes, but via UCT you can ad another 30min. I had a breakfast appointment with John from Hout Bay Gallery. We popped into the local Dario’s and had a nom nom coffee and breakfast. John said hello to every 2nd person as he has been living in Hout Bay for 30+ years. We had a good catch up with Dario himself and then off we went. John and I caught up with some personal and business news.

John and a piece from 2005 Nursery Crimes Series.

Dario's Bolognaise and Poached Egg breakfast. I did not look at the menu, I just said bring me what you cooked. LOL. Italian style.

Then I was off to my next meeting in Town with Selwyn do do a Tequila catch up. JP popped in as well and purchased the large blue graffiti piece and then same as Monday afternoon: pick up Angelina, go home, catch up with Joanne, cook supper, watch a movie, drink tea, bed, repeat 😊

Always walking out the Gallery with something. Selwyn is never empty handed. Supporting us all the time.

New collector. YES YES YES. Thanks JP.

Wednesday we woke up and I went downstairs to put the ROCKET espresso machine on and came back up to a bed full of red Lindt chocolate in the shape of a heart and a card. Good Job I brought home Joanne's Valentine gift the night before. We did agree to not get gifts, but it was worth it for both of us.

I got this piece framed and gave it to Joanne for Valentine's Day.

I woke Angelina up and we were all off at 6.10am. GO GO GO.

I drove into UCT again with Angelina. We found a much easier route for her to follow thanks to Dean. We spotted him on Tuesday in town and wondered why he drives all the way into town from Melkbos to get to UCT. This particular route was 1 minute longer, according to WAZE, but a much easier drive. It was one of them drives where your journey is longer, because your driving round the city on the freeway, but it takes the same time and you just flow in the traffic. So, thanks Dean.

I dropped Angelina, or should I say “she dropped me” at UCT, I then drove to the Gallery and manned the space for the morning as Angelique and Chad were on their way to Hermanus to visit Joshua at Rossouw Modern and do a deliver to Jay at Walker Bay Art.

Trevor Dickey, an old school friend from 40 years back popped in to say hello and catch up. It was interesting to wrack my brain and go back to childhood school memories.

Meet Trevor. The last time we saw each other was around 40+ years ago. Whoaaaaa. Was nice to catch up and reminisce about school days and where everyone was on the planet.

Thursday, I drove in once again with Angelina. She insisted on leaving home before 6am to beat the traffic. It somewhat worked. After that I had a good weekly meeting with Angelique and Chad.

We discussed the pop ups for 2024. Ranging from Johannesburg to Pretoria to Bloemfontein. Each one of the locations we would need to partner with strategic partners in the area.

After that I popped out to Time Out Market in the Waterfront to have a quick lunch with Richie. We opted for chef Peter Templehoff’s RAMENHEAD. Richie does like his noodles. It was good to catch up and talk flying and 3D prints.

Time out at Time Out with Richie. We shared a rice bowl and chicken something. Was delicious.

Always take the picture.

Then it was off to Atlas Trading to get some supplies for the week, before fetching Angelina.

Friday Joanne worked from home. I did the same. I spent most of the day doing my annual backups to my portable hard drives. You know the feeling. Then we mostly potted around the house and had somewhat of a lazy afternoon playing Backgammon and Rummy. The kids came over for Friday night supper. We decided to try mix it up a bit and do Friday supper instead of Sunday lunch. It went down ok.

I accidentally left this construction piece in the rain overnight.

These pieces are done with Graffiti paint on old construction planks.

Saturday was lay in bed till 9am. We were both a little stuffed from the busy week. We also got back into our running routine this week and ran 3 times in 5 days. Joanne made Humus from the dry chickpeas we got at Atlas Trading. Is was delicious and so cheap. I cannot believe we’ve been paying so much in the shops for Humus. Joanne also made us all a nice pasta Salad for the week ahead while I caught up mostly on my blog. Saturday afternoon we chilled again.

I was looking for some legs for the Candy Side Tables. I thought I would share this picture with you. Can you see them?

Half Way there.

Humus for brunch with Joanne, the love of my life. One more box ticked as Joanne masters the art of making Humus.

Home made Turmeric and Ginger shots with a dash of Lime Juice and Joanne's homemade Humus.

I was chatting to Danilo on Saturday morning confirming a lunch on Sunday and he said he was at Mano's. I told him I would be there Sunday to replace the art on his walls and he sent me a pick of Mano's Prego Roll. We have a bit of a thing going with who makes the best Prego. Mano's makes a pretty simple delicious Prego Roll. NOM NOM.

I was browsing some old site and spotted this piece. Did you know it is my all time favourite piece; Orange Desire Yellow fire. Check this out, page 258: Book

Sunday we popped into Mano to hang some new art. Then Jasons Bakery for coffee, then Danilo for lunch and a catch up, then Fish Hoek Beach on the Vespa for a swim. Then home.

Vespa-ing.

Working on a Sunday.

Spot the New SCOTT'S

Spot the SCOTT.

There is a certain way to plate Risotto alla Milanese.

Good Friends.

Beach life. Yes!, we swam in the sea.

Ice Cream in Kalk Bay.

Until Next Week
