Richard Scott Blog - 26th May 2024

Morning, this weeks Sunday blog is gonna be in pictures as it was such a busy week I only got to it now on Monday 27th May.

Finishing off the last of the Wooden sculptures on Monday.

My favorite "PACK IT LIKE A BOSS PIECE" it went all the way to Rotterdam and back.

Watch this space. Sheep or Sheppard?

Thursday  morning road tripping with Angelique to Hout Bay. I had to get the PANO in. We live is such a beautiful city.

We stopped over at John at Hout Bay Gallery for a quick catch up.

After a quick haircut, I picked Joanne up and we headed to Greyton to meet up with Alastair Barnes and collect some of his art for our new project. We stayed at a small quaint Bed and Breakfast called Lady Grace. Very nice. We had a nice Supper with Alastair and his wife Sylvia and discussed Joanne's idea to help him with the sale of his paintings and prints.

The next morning (Friday) we poped into to Alastair again and caught the master at work. You do not often get to see this. Such an honor.

Alastair signing one of his master pieces.

Signing a print.

Then we pack so art in the car and were off to see Chris and Engela in Klein Brak, a three hour drive away.

Here I am with my early morning Mielie Pap and Chris with his Moer-Coffee. They live a stones throw away from the ocean. Such a beautiful part of the world.

Saturday morning, we took Chris and Engela to go see Knysna Fine art. Trent Reid has one of the most beautiful galleries in South Africa.

Joanne and I got to meet and have a nice long chat with the man himself Trent Reid. Spot the beautiful Jaco Benade in the background entitles "Of love and shadows".

Then we were off to see some sights around Knysna. The lagoon as seen from the top of the Knysna Heads.

We bumped into Brett Bailey and his wife at the Knysna Heads. Who would of thought?

Yeah, in 2023 while driving to Plettenberg Bay so many times I promised Joanne some oysters. She finally got to taste a few different  ones.

One for Angelina.

Soaking up the sun with my good old friend Chris Basson. I met Chris back in 2003 when I lived in Cape Agulhas. He walked past the house one day and asked me what am I doing with all these canvasses on the driveway. And so our friendship started.

Engela and Joanne also soaking up the sun.

Chris has a few Richard Scott he wants to sell. So Joanne  is gonna help him. I got a funny feeling Joshua Rossouw will buy the splash piece as I only ever did 2 and Joshua owns the other one.

Chris signing some water colours.

Chris gifting Joanne one of his masterpieces.

Supper time. The good old fashioned "Home Made Afrikaner" style chicken pie. Nothing like it.

Engela's famous Chicken Pie. NOM NOM.

And her even more famous Milk Tart. You cannot buy these.

Early Sunday morning walk on the beach with the love of my life, Joanne.

I had to do it. A swim in the tidal pool.

Something about the sea.

Hunting for oyster.

Got the pic of my water baby.

We counted 27 Oyster catchers in one place. It was such a beautiful sight to see them in abundance again.

Our Haul.

Breakfast with Chris.

Heading home.

We stopped off at Perigreen to get pies for Sunday lunch but only Richie attended as we were a little late and the kids all have Uni exams this week.

Fellow artist and friend Ignatius Marx was in town so he popped in for Sunday Lunch and stayed over the night as we talked well into the night. It was good to see him and catch up.

Ok, until next Sunday, Have a fantastic week.
