Richard Scott Blog - 24th December 2023

Monday, Angelina was hanging around as she was on school holidays.

I worked on that colab with Mr Le Roux, Angelina's Matric Biology teacher. He supports Stone Dragon charity. He drew on 4 pieces of paper and I Richard Scottified them to help him raise funds. Links to follow soon.

Tuesday, Angelina came in with me to the gallery to do a kinda "day with dad”.  At the end of the day she was flabbergasted at what I all did in one day. We went to the shop then 4 or 5 different locations finishing off at my tequila decanter supplier which blew her away. Then off to fetch Joanne where we ran another 4 errands before we got home. Good job Joanne and I packed everything for Plett POP-UP the day before as we were exhausted. We got takeaways and had an early night.

Angelina and I enjoying some quality time together at Our Local on Kloof Street.

Original 3D print and a ceramic piece.

They shrink in the kiln, that's why the original is 15% larger.

Chatting to the staff is something a friend of mine, Rodrigo, taught me.

Experimenting with different molds.

Frans getting stuck into the candy pieces.

Even with Frans at the steering wheel, we can only do 2 a day.

The genius himself.

Chilling with Angelina at Wilscha, while I wait for my facial and she her nails.

Ta Daaaaaa

Joanne and I were up early as I had to pack the car full for Plett. Last minute.com.

Wednesday, Joanne popped into work till 10 where I picked her up and we off to Plett to do the 2nd shift at the POP-UP. The road trip went well as they do, as long as you stop a few times and rest.  We arrived safely and headed to the Air BnB and unpacked our personal stuff then off to the POP-UP.

Chad and Angelique were in full swing.

POP-UP Shop in full swing.

I LOVE PLETT

Recognize These?

Chad and I popped out to Les to hang a piece he acquired while Angelique trained Joanne up on the pricing.

Meet Les.

Rebul Boxes are for sale:

A collector in Plett sent us a picture of a fridge magnet she made  in 2002.

Chiling after a hard day at work, traveling. :)

I decided to treat the guys to a supper out. They opted for Nguni, a nice steak restaurant. It was nice to rest before the storm Wednesday. We had quite a late night and all had sore heads the next day. Blah stuff, you know the feeling.

Supper at Nguni.

Thursday was a blur. Angelique headed back to Cape Town and we got stuck into sales. We did really great in the POP-UP, especially with Tequila Decanter sales. We were all tired and went to bed early.

Got to meet Brett Archiebald. Do you know why he is famous?

Friday, was a better day. I came up with an idea to give away a complimentary keyring to anyone who ordered coffee at the coffee shop next door. A cool way to interact with all the locals and holiday makers and get them into the POP-UP. Joanne stood right at the till with her big smile and friendly personality and guided them into the POP-UP.

Coffee Anyone?

Meet Innocence. The head Barista?

The day was long, but we signed up for it. Luckily, Joanne made us a real breakfast and prepped some wholewheat bread chicken left over sandwiches. Not the junk the kids had been eating on there first shift. Sales were good for the day. We met some interesting people throughout the day. Once again, we went home at 7ish and collapsed on the couch. Joanne and I had a stiff Gin and Tonic and then we quickly prepped supper. German sausages I bought at the German Shop in Gardens on Tuesday. We had it with a fresh salad and the night before leftover smash and Brussel sprouts. In fact, it was enough for the next days lunch. That’s kind of how we planned it as eating out can get expensive in a holiday seaside town.

Darren bought himself some Richard Scott tequila.

Meet a collector from 2002, Scott Rattray.

Anton and Jono popped in.

As did Martin Hurwitzt

The original drawing.

SOLD.

The competition. NOT!

After supper we chatted a bit. I asked Joanne if she wanted to play cards and as I said it, and she said “naaaa”, I realised I was to tired to think. So we agreed to get an early night.

Spot the Scott.

Good job we had an early night, as Joanne was up most of it with a stomach bug. She was so weak in the morning that I medicate her up, put her back to bed, and headed to the POP-UP hoping she would sleep through it. I didn’t hear form her by 11 so I popped in to see if she was ok. She was kinda ok, but not 100% so I sent her to Medi-Clinic here in Plett to get a drip. They were quite obliging, and Joanne felt much better.

I headed back to the shop while she got dripped. I picked her up around 15h00 and dropped her at home.

The rest of the day was short. Joanne had enough energy from the drip to do the last hour in the POP-UP. We then packed up and went home to an early night.

Sunday, luckily Joanne was feeling OK. Not great, but OK. We went in and did ok for Christmas eve. So its time to sign off and post the blog.

Taking over tops slowly :)

Until next Sunday

Merry Christmas for tomorrow from us workers in Plett, Myself, Joanne and Chad.
