How was your Valentine on Tuesday? I was taking Joanne away this week for a nice Valentine’s weekend in Stanford. Story and Photos below.

Oh buy the way, Angelique sold that Framed Gold Tree on the shop floor that I spoke of last week. It really does look stunning in that frame. I’m going to get 2 more of the edition framed and at R35 000 framed its a steal.

Did you pop into Jason’s Bakery this week in Greenpoint and get your coffee in a Richard Scott limited edition Espresso or Cappuccino cup?

Monday was a great research day for Angelique and I. We’ve decided to meet on Monday’s and do Sales and Analytics. Can you believe that I have to analyze data from 11 platforms. Its a nightmare but a lot of fun.

  1. Google
  2. Google Ads
  3. WordPress
  4. Facebook
  5. Instagram
  6. Shopify
  7. Mailchimp
  8. Tik Tok
  9. Pintrest
  10. WhatsApp
  11. Quickbooks

So that was my Monday morning. Monday afternoon I went to hit 100 golf balls and my swing is getting better. I made Joanne and I a quick boneless lamb rib roast and we scoffed that and had an early night as we want to get up at 5am and get to town before the traffic. Sitting in traffic for 60-90 minutes is not fun.

Tuesday it took me 90 minutes to get from my house to the shop. Selwyn popped in with Brad and Anton. They bought a few items and now I have 2 new disciples.

Meet Brad, Anton and Selwyn. My new disciples 🙂

It was nice to be in the shop. It really is looking great.

Angelina sent me her daily morning pic after I sent her mine.

I can finally sell my Gin and I sold 5 bottles on the first day. It will be online tomorrow to purchase. Here are the 4 types:

Photo taken on the night of the launch at HOPE gin way back when.

Classic Ana (Union Jack flag colours) – Classic Ana is a classic London Dry style gin, distilled with juniper and citrus.

Herbal Tammy (Green colour) – Herbal Tammy is an unusual, herbaceous gin distilled with cucumber and lots of herbs.

Citrus Mandy (Orange colours) – Citrus Mandy is a limited release fresh orange gin, distilled with organic Cape tango mandarins from the Oranjezicht market.

Naval Uma (Navy Blue colours) – Navy Uma is a navy strength gin distilled with juniper and cubeb berries. Super strong at 57% ABV, this gin is smooth and spirited.

Tuesday afternoon I picked Joanne up and we went to Giovanni’s. Joanne gave me the choice of a nice Valentines lunch somewhere like WOK or some treats from Giovanni’s and a romantic picnic at home on the deck. You can guess which one I went for. It was so nice to spend quality time with the love of my life on the so called “Love Day of the Year”. I already love Joanne with all my heart and soul and find it weird that I love her more and more each day. People often say to us that the “Honeymoon phase” of holding hands and kissing and touching and sharing plates of food at restaurants, and opening car doors for her is only supposed to last a year. Well it’s almost 4 years and it feels like yesterday. I trust and hope you feel the same way about your valentine.

We bumped into Philip Powell at Giovanni’s. Philip is a good friend and follows my art. Phillip has auctioned off over 50 of my artworks over the years.

Meet Philip, one of this countries best auctioneers and most certainly the funniest.

Wednesday, I popped into FNB to see my Private Banker, Graham. I needed a catch up and to also sort out a few banking issues. Graham is very interested in me and my art.

Thursday morning, we packed the car for our weekend in Stanford. I dropped Joanne at work early and headed to the shop to give out the instructions for the day. Angelique and Chad had a full day delivering and collecting all the way from Hout Bay to Riebeek Kasteel. I got going at 8am as well to Gourmet coffee roasters to discuss the Richard Scott/ROCKET cappuccino/espresso give away. News to follow. After ROCKET I had an appointment with Theo at Imibala foundation in Somerset West.

Theo showed me the entire Imibala operation and it’s impressive. In the hour that I was there I saw 20 kids be kitted out with brand news school uniforms shoes and bags. Impressive. I also saw a classroom of some 20 kids being taught art. Theo was telling me that art has been taken out of the South African school curriculum. I never knew that. Did you? I think we’re going to have to do something about that. At least Imibala is. I wento to see Theo at Imibala, after meeting Mrs Ruppert, at the gala last Wednesday and discussing her art program with her to see where I can help or partner with her organisation. Theo and think we’ve found it. News to follow after some brainstorming.

It was great to meet someone as transparent as myself. Its an important trait to have as a successful businessman

After my meeting with Theo I popped into the Magnet store to buy R7000 worth of magnets for my magnetic pieces. They sure are expensive.

Check out the Magnet stock WHOAAAAAAAAA

Then I popped into see Simba, at Robin Sprong, to discuss the wallet artwork. We nailed that down in an hour and I was off to pick Joanne up for our weekend away.

On the way to Stanford we stopped at Joanne’s favourite wine farm Paul Cluver and bought wine for the weekend. Then we’re we’re off.

Each time we go a way i have a habit, or am trying to start one, of buying Joanne’s boss Craig a nice bottle of wine. This one is the Paul Cluver Seven Flags

We drove to Stanford via Hermanus. We were both looking forward to some quality time. I booked us in at a beautiful forest retreat called Sondagskloof. It’s run by Cathy and is 15 minutes out of Stanford. We were blown away. No WiFi, hot tubs and peaceful poplar forests. I even got to read my book.

It rained hard from Thursday night to Saturday morning and then the sun came out. We had the best of both worlds. Rainy wet indoor fire, red wine weather and sunny deck hot tub braai weather. I’m currently sitting on the deck typing this on my phone on Saturday morning because there is no WiFi, only up at the house where our host Cathy lives. She provides a beautiful deck there for guests to sit and catch up with the outside world if needed.

I’m about to open a nice bottle of Paul Cluver Chardonnay and sit on the deck then get into the hot tub, with Joanne, that is heated with a submerged log fire.

We got home safe Sunday, the roads were empty.

Have a great week.
