Monday morning, being the 31st and the end of the month, I paid all my bills, bond, electricity, storage, deliveries and and and. I managed to get some golf practice in at the Melkbos driving range. I’ve decide to give golf a good go. I am going to use it to keep fit and to network. I do love the challenge of golf, but love the fact that you have to be consistent and I am Mr non-consistent.
After hitting some golf balls I got back home and decided to get the blog going. So here I am typing to you.
Next on my list to do is a proposal to the Desmond Tutu Foundation about the Richard Scott Desmond Tutu paintings and prints. So here goes, news to follow.
Chad and Frans headed out on a errands run on Monday. It started at dropping off 12 boxes of Richard Scott Rosé at Henry’s gallery in Kloof Nek Road and in Sea Point for him to gift to collectors and buyers of my art. Then they were off to Hout Bay Gallery to drop off 12 bottles of Rosé there as well and then back to the studio. I have asked John and Henry to give a complimentary bottle of my Rosé to all of my collectors that come through the door. So if you collect my art or want to start collecting it, pop into Hout Bay Gallery or You and I Gallery in Kloof Nek Road or Sea Point and buy a piece of my art to get your complementary Richard Scott Rosé Magnum.
Do you have your bottle of Richard Scott Spider Pig Rosé?
Chad and Frans headed out to the Baule mansion in Camps Bay to touch up the famous Baule Camps Bay Mural.
The ever faithful Frans touching up the orange. Frans has been my assistant for 17 years now. Without him I would not be able to do what I do.

Angelique sent me a wonderful photo of one of my prints in a clients house. It is always nice to get feedback from happy collectors.
Candy Girls, 200 x 100cm
Tuesday was shop day and Selwyn popped in for a Plettenberg Bay December VIP Art Party update. News to follow.
Selwyn photographing some art and me photographing the new December Art box
So we launched the Richard Scott annual Art box. Only 50 available at R2500. Early bird offer of R2000 ex VAT if you get your order in before 15 November. The box is valued at R5500 ex VAT. So go go go. Here’s the link.
First stop Thursday morning early was ORMS to sign a large Candy Girls print that is going to a collector in The Waterfront, Cape Town.
I always stamp my Richard Scott Studio stamp on the left of all my prints.
Checking the edition number
After ORMS, I took Chad along to a few meetings. The first was with Ross who wanted to introduce me to Grant. Grant started Boss Ice Tea. Ross wanted to make the introduction because Grant has branched off into Tequila and done all the ground work in Mexico to be able to create and sell your own branded Tequila in South Africa. It was humbling to know they are equally as transparent and helpful people out there like myself. Watch this space on The Richard Scott Tequila front.

After my Tequila meeting I popped into Shelflife to stock up on Graffiti spray paint supplies. I always seem to spend a fortune there although the cans of Montana paint are only R94 each.
Always to many colours to choose from.
Chad and I popped back to the shop. I had a 11am meeting with Olaf, Victoire’s dad. He was here in South Africa on holiday from Mauritius. Richie and Victoire have been together for 3+ years and I’ve never met her dad.
Victoire’s dad left and and I was off to the Baule Mansion to go and sign the newly touched up mural. Martin suggested we get that done ASAP and then he prepared a surprise for me.
All done and signed and good for another few years in the scorching South African sun
You godda get the selfie. Its important for the history pages 🙂
The signing only took all of 10 minutes and then I was treated to the famous Baule Brussel Sprout and chilli pasta. As always it was delicious and Martin served it with a bottle of Chris Williams Viognier. Chris owns The Foundry wine farm, and was the wine maker at South Africa’s most famous Wine farm Meerlust. Chris’s Viognier is delicious and buttery. I was telling Martin that way back 10 years ago I bartered a painting or 2 with Chris for wine. He brought me 2 truck loads of wine. Half was Meerlust Rubicon and the other half was unlabeled Viognier. It took me 10 years to finish that beautiful Viognier.
I love it when you can call such wonderful people your friends and they even cook for you barefoot. LOL
Out of the blue on Thursday evening Philip Powell of Powell’s Auctioneers sends me a few photos of him auctioning off one of my Graffiti Girl prints at a charity auction. Philip and I go back a long way and he has auctioned off more that 100 pieces of my art over the years. This piece was donated to Ladles of Love to help raise funds for their needy programs they run.
The famous Philip Powell
John from Hout Bay gallery also sent me a random picture of my art hanging in the Gallery.
I got my own wall at Hout Bay Gallery. What a privilege.
Martin invited Joanne and I to a Friday lunch and special wine tasting with David Sonnenberg, owner of Diemersfontein Wine Farm. Martin was here with his friends from Austria and Germany Jo and Chrissi and Ulf and Antonio. David and his farm Manager, Francois took us through all the wines on the farm inside their private, perfectly chilled, wine cellar. Diemersfontein is famous for its Chocolate Pinotage but David has some serious big and beautiful wines that he produces. Martin is one of the biggest importers of South African Wine into Germany. We agreed that he would help me launch my own brand of wine. It is an idea I have been toying with for 10+ years. I remember coming up with the idea whilst sitting at a restaurant in Rotterdam with Vincent van Zon many years ago. I too wanted to create wine and a beautiful concept.
The idea is to produce a Champagne, Red, White and Rosé each year under the Richard Scott My Girls label. Each year I myself will choose a different wine/wine farm’s wine to put into the bottles. The idea is so that collectors and fans can collect these bottle and drink them and experience where I am each year with my wine choices. I approached David from Diemersfontein and he is open to discussion. David, being in the wine business and an open and transparent businessman shared my first hurdle with me. He said that 200-1000 bottles is a little low for most wine farms to sell off to me. So I will go back to the drawing board and figure it out. Wine season is coming soon and I will have my recipe ready for you.
Myself, Joanne and Martin in green this time
From left: Antonio, Joanne, Martin, Chrissi, Jo and Ulf. Wonderful people. All the dog wants in the food.
David showed us around the old Manor House. Wow what an honor.
I forgot to mention that on Friday morning John from Hout Bay gallery popped into the Melkbos studio with a Swiss client Rolf, who recently bought a resale from John. Rolf knew of me and my art for many years and finally acquired his first Richard Scott with John. Rolf saw my swimming pool and asked if I would paint his one. I agreed and John brought him around and we got on like a house on fire. Nonetheless, Rolf, John and I will do some big project together in the future.
While Rolf was in my studio we spoke of the artist Basquiat. I couldn’t find the painting I did back in 2018 that inspired me of Banksy’s mural outside Basquiat’s Barbican 2017 Boom For Real exhibition. I told Rolf I would send the image to him via John.

Picasso once said “Good artist copy, great artists steel” That’s what Banksy did and so did I, each adding our own twist
I’m working on a breast cancer project and thought I would share the concept images with you. I will share more with you as we go along. You gonna love it.
Pink: Pink takes all the passion and energy of red and tempers it with the purity of white, leaving us with the colour of tenderness and affection.
Fuchsia: Fuchsia symbolizes power and Maturity and reflects feeling confident.
Me Me Me
Saturday we had a home-day as Angelina was here for the weekend. That normally means early nights etc. The kids are all studying, so the house is so quiet. You can see the steam coming out their ears in the rooms.
Joanne and I got up super early Sunday and were done and dusted with a beach run and breakfast by 7am. That’s quite early for us because we are rather lazy on a Sunday morning. Joanne did her usual Sunday potting around the house while I tap my fingers onto little black squares as I share my thoughts with you through this blog. Did you know there are 400+ who read this every week. That’s a lot of pressure, hee hee. Just kidding. I love sharing my life and stories as a book slowly starts to form.
Beach run done. Its a beautiful day in Cape Town. Come visit.
See you next week
Richard
