Richard Scott Blog - 8th December 2024

Monday, Angelique, and I first had a quick meeting with Jacques Lagrange at Jason's Bakery to get the day started.

After David, we decided to go pop in at Kalk Bay Gallery as they have been selling my small prints.

My sticker is still there.

Kalk Bay gallery is a beautiful modern yet eclectic space.

Shopping.

I found a Richard Scott.

After that we went to the harbour to buy some fresh fish. I got a nice sized yellow tail that we were planning on eating for supper. However, the fish and chips I ordered for lunch at Kalkies (an institution) was too much, so I saved it for Joanne for supper.

We live in such a beautiful country.

It is so cool to see trains running again. Well done to the Democratic Alliance.

Kalk Bay harbour.

Red Roman on the left and Yellow Tail on the right. I bought two Yellow Tail.

If you are in Kalk Bay you have to go to Kalkies.

Nom Nom.

After Kalk bay I picked Joanne up and we headed home for a chilled evening as all the kids were out and about with the Universities’ on holiday.

Tuesday was a full house, with lots of preparation work for Wednesday nights Auction for the New Somerset Hospital Facility Board. Hosted by Jacques Lagrange and myself. We are helping them raise money to help them with their cause. Such a wonderful feeling helping others in need.

Gold Money Tree.

I also, strangely enough, spent a few hours in the studio. I was mixing paint for the first time in years for a commission piece going all the way to Glasgow in Scotland.

Signing a Road Sign piece. Excuse the pun.

There was a random visit from a lady called Katharina all the way from Austria. It was quite refreshing to show people the studio tour again.

She loved the cappuccino and espresso cups and packed her troly full. She added in four of the ceramic decanters as well for Christmas gifts for her friends and family. So cool, it made my day.

Joanne came home early, and she got stuck into a making a Nom Nom chicken curry, while I decided to pickle the yellowtail fish I bought for Joanne on Monday.

Making picked fish from the Yellow Tail I bought yesterday.

It was delicious.

I showed Joanne how to operate WhatsApp on her computer for Wednesday nights Auction, as I will be in Johannesburg at that time.

Wednesday I was up early and off to Johannesburg to open the show at Steyn City and do the “Richard Scott” life talk. Joanne dropped me off at Century City and then I Uber-ed to the airport where I met Angelique, and we were off.

Look who I bumped into at the airport. Tim Edmunds. Tim and his wife Monique have a big collection of my art.

So cool to see all the tourists coming to Cape Town.

I took a cool photo for Richie.

I am actually sitting on the plane now 10 000 feet in the sky and typing this.

Our first stop was to drop off the second backgammon board I did and then to have a bite to eat at Andy’s favourite restaurant Sale e Pepe with close friends Rob and Paulie, and Nick.

Best food in Johannesburg.

It was great to see them, and we all told each other our Andy stories and ordered his favourite food.

Then it was time to check in and get ready for the opening of the show at The Gallery Steyn City.

Talking to the masses :)

It was a great honour to hang my art in The Gallery at Steyn City.

Quite cool hanging next to Robert Slingsby.

3m x 1.5m Candy Girls from way back.

My latest works. Only Available at The Gallery Steyn City.

Explaining my process.

Got to meet Ochieng, who was taking all the photos.

Thursday up and off to run a few errands and then off to the airport to head home.

Popped into see the Nelson Makamo.

Cool works by Nandipha Jantjies at Madlozi Art Gallery in Rosebank.

Always get the pic.

Friday was pack, pack, pack all the Auction Items for Jacques Charity Auction.

Saturday we did some admin and caught up with each other on the business front. Joanne went for a beach run while I replanted some seedlings in the vegetable garden.

Saturday afternoon was Backgammon and more backgammon.

Sunday was book reading and the family came over for a braai Sunday lunch.

Until next week.
