This week's blog is in pictures only with annotated stories.
I used to do a weekly old photo. When I saw this one of Charl Bezuidenhout, of Worldart Gallery, I had to post it.
Here is a pic of us at Christina's 50th last Saturday.
Had to post a photo of Joanne's NOM NOM lentil Lasagna she made for last Sunday's lunch.
Zoom zoom.
Me looking after my sourdough starter. I have been keeping it in the fridge and was wondering why it would not take. Joanne suggested I keep it out of the fridge and BINGO! it worked. We officially have a living starter to start making our bread with.
Monday I got stuck into the studio. I have an opportunity to paint 5000 bottles of Cap Classic from a top-notch wine farm. I think I will try a collaboration with Aperol. News to follow.
Hard at work. Never stop.
Second draft.
Here is the one I did in Aperol Orange and Blue.
John, from Hout Bay Gallery, popped in to drop off a painting he asked me to restore. Always good to see John.
Tuesday, I drove into town with Joanne. First stop was Shift Coffee bar at 7.30 am to see Jacques Lagrange to discuss The Somerset Hospital Board Charity Auction.
Second stop was to see David Trappler my psychiatrist. That went well. Always good to unpack and repack.
Then, Angelique and I were off to Stellenbosch to see Sipho, from SONGO. Sipho heads up SONGO. I was very involved with SONGO and Christoph Sauser back in my cycling days. Nonetheless it was great to catch up with Sipho and grab a burger at Bertus Basson's DE VRIJE Burger joint.
We pitched the Art Auction idea to Sipho and he was in.
DE VRIJE Burger. Arguably one of my top three burgers in the world. I did make mention of a so called "Burger Blog" last week, but I did not even find the time to write a proper blog for you this week. I did do a lot of research on how to start one and there is a lot of information out there. Even World Championship Burger Competitions. So, it is quite intense. I will have to make a decide on this one soon.
Wednesday I was back in the studio painting a few spent wine barrel tops from The High Road Winery. These will go to charities to help them raise money.
A new collector sent us a photo of this piece proudly hanging in his home.
The Tutu Art Box posted a few pictures on Instagram to promote the sale of the box. I decided to do a screenshot and share it with you here and on Instagram. If you know me you will know the story behind this project.
Some sketches that come with the Tutu Art Box.
2015, nine years ago I envisaged this project.
Joanne and I on the way to Tulbach for a weekend of Wedding venue research. Our first stop was De Kloof just outside the Du Toits Kloof Tunnel.
Me and Burgers again. Not a bad little homemade style burger at De Kloof restaurant.
After Du Kloof we went to Mont Pellier in Tulbach to check in. The accommodation was not as per the photos on AirBnB, so we got our money back and decided to either go home or search AirBnB again. Well, you will not believe it. We found this little paradise pod just 30 minutes away in Ceres. So, we booked it. We quickly popped into Mont Rouge to take a look at these wedding venue which was beautiful and very refreshing, and then we were off to Ceres, Thanks to Michelle and Phil for sharing their Cabin in Ceres with us. Here is a link to it and others: Click Here
Our view for three days. Spending lots of time with Joanne in Pods, Pools and wood fired Hot Tubs.
Joanne foraging in the vegetable garden so that we did not have to get in the car and get groceries.
The love of my life looking after me.
Phil, the owner of the fruit farm said we could go for a walk and forage for Cherries in his Cherry orchard. Wow, what a privilege. We scoffed ourselves. The Cherry Orchard was as far as the eye could see.
Pick pick.
Nom Nom. Thanks Phil.
We had a few hand full's.
Late Saturday afternoon picnic in the garden.
Sunday morning was spent in the hot tub at 6am a quick breakfast and we headed home via Riebeek Kasteel to Kloovenburg to buy some of their delicious olive oil and saw the signs to Deli-Co Farm Shop and Joanne had to go, It was very cool. I remember meeting the owner one day in the small deli in Riebeek Kasteel and him telling me that one day they will open up on the farm, so kudos to them.
Until next week, thanks for reading.
