Richard Scott Blog: 13th August 2023

Monday I was out running errands: studio supplies and new credit card at the bank. It was very misty, so I struggled a little bit on my Vespa. It may be time to get a car. I've always wanted to get myself a pocket rocket. Hmmmmmm.
I spent the rest of the day trying to get to grips with Google Ads which made the day go past quickly. Google Ads is a science on its own.

I had 2 collectors send me photos of my art hanging on their walls. Quite nice to see happy collectors. One in Cape Town.

And, one in Port Elizabeth.

Wednesday was Women’s Day in South Africa, so it was a public holiday. Was nice to get up a little later than usual. Joanne and I had planed out our Wednesday on Tuesday already. Sleep in, run on the beach, clean house, go for a hike and a swim at The West Coast National Park. All of that happened until we got to the entrance of the Park and 1000 other people had the same idea as us. So we turned around and went to Ysterfontein and had a car picnic as the beach was high tide. It was fun. Been a while since we have done that. After lunch we took a walk on the promenade and got a twirly wirly and Joanne got a Chai Latte. Back in the car and we headed home to enjoy the sun on the deck. We popped a bottle of Bubbles and played best of 5 Backgammon. I was on fire. I won 4-1. It was nice to sit in the sun with bikinis and shorts.

A mile long queue of Capetonians wanting to see the flowers up the West Coast.

Latte and Ice Cream in Yesterfontein
We did not eat supper as our picnic was to much. I did enjoy the egg mayo “travel” sandwiches I made. We did a lot of Paris research. As much as Joanne and I will wing it when we are there, we do still like to be prepared. We created an itinerary in Word. Then it was bedtime.
This weeks flash back photo is of me at my Dad's work Christmas do. Each year you could go buy some presents to a certain value and then all the kids from the company's employers came together and had a Christmas party. I remember them fondly. Here I am holding my yellow skateboard. I can still remember the moment fondly. I'm guessing I'm about 5 years old.

I was up early on Thursday and into the Gallery but due to the Taxi strikes we got in 30 minutes early so Joanne and I enjoyed a nice coffee at Tamboerswinkel. Then it was off to the Gallery. I managed to catch up with Chad and the Talk proposal. Also the production of the Tequila bottle with Mervyn Gers. Then it was time for a quick 9am haircut with Liezl my Hair stylist and neighbour. Then time to prep for our 11am meeting with Mike from BOSA, Mmusi Maimane's new political party. We are all coming on board to help raise funds via an event at Woodstock Brewery before the end of the year. Selwyn was there and helped with a lot of advice. Selwyn and I also spoke tequila. The samples will be out soon.

Mike, Konstantin, Myself, Andre, Selwyn and Mmusi on zoom.

Meet Mike.

Deon Bing popped in a little later to schedule a Tequila session. News to follow.
Thursday felt like a Monday all day because Wednesday was a public holiday, but I swam threw the hours and it passed nicely. I picked Joanne up and we headed to Canal Walk to have some Sushi and to buy a few items to travel with like jeans and jackets.

Joanne and I at Akiya. The Sushi is really good.

We got the pick with the owner Mr Du.

Playing cards Thursday late afternoon. Leftover Sushi for the kids supper.

Friday was Richie’s 21st birthday. Joanne and I took him to lunch at Ramenhead to check out the ramen. Richie loves Ramen so he was over the moon. The food was so delicious. WOW extremely impressed. We will go back. We said goodbye to Richie and headed home.

Happy 21st Birthday to Richie.

Richie loves his Ramen.

Me doing what I do best, trying different things. This time Traditional Sake.

Got the pic of John, Friday morning.
Saturday, we did a High Tea at Mount Nelson with the family to celebrate Richie’s 21st.

Sunday, we decided not to do family lunch because of the High Tea on Saturday. Joanne and I just caught up and chilled a little. It was nice to rest for a change.

Here's a pic of the last Framed Gold Tree 14/14. There are only 3 Artist Proofs left.

Until next week.
