Richard Scott Blog: 11th December 2022

Hello there, this week has been manic. It seems to be getting more manic the closer we get to the end of the year. I forced myself to stay at the studio on Monday and get 12 new road signs done for the silly season and squeezed in my admin in between. I snuck out at 11am to go hit some golf balls and to get some practice in but the driving range only opened at 12am. So I turned around and went back home and made a few phone calls. At 12am I repeated it and managed to hit 100 balls so well that I took another bucket of balls (50) and proceeded to hit them well, as well.

I got home and had a slice of the Quiche Joanne made on Sunday and got stuck into the 12 Road Signs. By the time I was done, Joanne was home. We both needed a stiff Gin.

We had to be at Angelina’s school Academic Prize Giving. She got 6th in the grade over all and highest marks for dance in her grade.

Tuesday morning, I popped out to see Dean and Nicola. Dean because he is gonna make up a floating bed for Dean, Joanne’s son and Nicola to pick up some beach bags. The new design is the full girl. The previous bags were made from reject pool pillows. So you have have a choice of 2.

The 2 bags at the top are the reject pool pillows and the the 3 at the bottom are the new design.

Hennie Mouton popped into the Gallery to pic up his art piece that I auctioned off for John for his church and I took the opportunity to chat and catch up and take that famous pic. I’ll stop talking about “That Famous Pic”, hee hee

Meet Hennie. Hennie helped me help John and Samantha take 20 elderly people for a lovely breakfast at Spur on the 16th December.

Chad had a client for his Art Box that sent us a pick to say thank you. It was so cool of how the courier stuck a sticker over the artwork and drew on the piece. Most people will think this is destroying the art. Its not, its making it better. It’s making it real.

Tuesday afternoon Robin Sprong from Robin Sprong Wallpapers sent me some photo’s of a recent Richard Scott Wallpaper installation he did. Love it. If you want Richard Scott Wallpaper, google him. It can we installed worldwide through Robin’s global partners.

Tuesday evening we went home and chilled.

Wednesday was manic. From 5:30am to 11:00pm. I was home all day, bar hitting some golf balls before lunch. I was in the studio all day and started off buy throwing out STUFF. How the hell does STUFF just pile up. It was very therapeutic just putting STUFF in the bin.

Here is the final product. Only 4 left from that original project.

Wednesday afternoon, I got stuck into finishing off 10 new Road Signs. I knew the Germans were coming.

Pete, Shombie, Franz and the gang came over for sun downers and snacks. We reminisced about or trip to Iceland in 2018 and drank to our friendship. Shombie wants me to come to Frankfurt to do a huge mural on a project he is working on. Reinhard wants to do the same with me in Czechoslovakia. After we ate, I took them all down to the studio and the Germans went mad about the Road Signs. 15 minutes later Chad had sold 6 of the ones I painted earlier in the day. Franz is the Police man that hand cuffed me back in 2018 when I did that exhibition in Butsbach Germany.

Thursday was an equally long day but a good day. I popped into town and ran some errands at the shop. My first meeting was with Phumi, the COO of the Desmond and Leah Tutu Foundation. We are still trying to find traction on the project. It was a very positive meeting and I am going to sell the 5 TUTU Face Paintings. I will put the five pieces on the shop tomorrow Sunday or Monday. The Arch himself.

THE ARCH AND ME. VERY PROUD.

The Arch approving and stamping each piece with his own Richard Scott a r c h Stamp

I headed back to the shop and the German gang popped in on their way to Spier Wine farm and bought some last minute Christmas presents at the shop. Shombie bought one of the Richard Scott recycled studio pants Tote Bags.

We went upstairs to the brewery and shared a few beers and conversations. Pete invited us to the Baule Mansion for a Shombie braai and a sleep over.

Beautiful People and Beautiful friends makes a Beautiful Life

I picked Joanne up from work and we headed home and packed a night bag and headed to Bauler’s. It was a super duper evening and we were treated like royalty. Pete couldn’t find the key to the 15th Spare room (LOL) so Shombie gave up his bed and cuddled in with Pete. Well that didn’t go well as Shombie is a big guy with a loud snore. Nonetheless we went to bed reasonably early and got up around 7 on Friday Morning as Joanne was working from home. We put on our cozzies and jumped into the pool. It was awesome. Swimming in a Multi-Million Rand palace at 7am in the morning.

There was load shedding so we couldn’t have coffee. So Shombie and I walked down to the little delicatessen on the corner like they do in Germany and bought some bread, salmon and coffee. We had a really good chat in broken English on Shombie’s side and broken German on my side.

After heading back and making us all a nice breakfast, Joanne and I headed home via the dentist, as she chipped a tooth the day before, then home. Joanne had a 2pm hair appointment that lasted till 5pm. I went to CHECKERS and got the weeks groceries and some yummy Mozzarella to make Joanne her favorite Caprese Salad. Afterwards, I caught up the the guys in the studio and finished off some works for the Plett POP-UP this coming week.

I picked Joanne up at 5pm and we came home. We were stuffed so we just had that caprice salad and a movie night. We booked our September 2023 trip to LONDON, PARIS and 3 days in Dubai. Lot’s of planning to do.

Saturday morning, Joanne went for her beach run and I picked Angelina up to go do her motor vehicle Learner’s License training at Frank as she is writing her Learner’s exam on Monday. I then went to see Vernon for a Golf lesson. That went well. Today, I learnt to lift my chin up a bit as it’s restricting my ability to rotate my shoulders. After that I took Dean to teach him how to deal with the care tyre companies. He got his wheel alignment done on his car and rotated the wheels. Dad stuff. Joanne, Dean and I had a light lunch and a catch up while waiting for Angelina. The lunch took so long to come that I had time to go fetch Angelina from Frank and she joined us for lunch.

Off to tick off the next box in life. Car Learners.

Me sending Joanne a pic 🙂

Deans car was sorted and lunch finished. We dropped Angelina off at the Mall and headed home. Dean and Daniella were home and we made Chicken Strips, Mash, Cauliflower and Broccoli for supper with a side salad. I put some loud music on to celebrate and poured us a nice glass of Champagne as I got my Liquor License Approved on Friday. Now I can sell you my Gin, Wine, beer and Tequila. Watch this space.

Joanne and I played cards all Saturday afternoon and were in bed at 8.30pm. The best part about that is waking up at 6am Sunday morning feeling like a million dollars.

We both went for a beach run and then a swim in the pool. We had a yummy breakfast of pickled vegetables, baby tomatoes, thinly sliced choriza, fried, cheddar cheese and gherkins.

Shower time and then Sunday cooking up a storm. I manage to reset the pool pump and garden pump timers as LOAD SHEDDING is effecting everything – we on stage 5 now. YES we are off 3 times a day for 4hrs. DO THE MATH. Everything with a battery that needs charging is constantly plugged in when we do have electricity. CRAZY.

So it is Sunday afternoon and I’m typing to you. Joanne and I just finished a nice Sunday Gammon roast after a nice walk to the shop to get some basic groceries. Gammon pics to follow. Oh and Joanne’s famous roast potatoes.

Famous potatoes, gammon and me with sweet chili sauce and pineapple and of course a grill

Ok, it’s 13h45 Sunday afternoon and I need to go carve up the gammon. Joanne is ironing while I finish exposing myself to you 🙂 Tomorrow is a big week as Wednesday I turn 54 years young and Angelina comes over for the week and Joanne has 1000 things planned. Most importantly I am looking forward to spending quality time with Angelina and the rest of the gang and a special lunch on Thursday at Chorus.

You will see all the pics next week.

Thanks for indulging in my life.
