Weekly updates on what happend in Richard Art life in the last 7 days

Richard Scott: 14th August 2022

Richard Scott: 14th August 2022

Here is a picture of the proof reader of my Sunday blog and also the love of my life: Joanne.

Sundays closing of the ROAD WORKS’s show went well. John sold 4 more ROAD WORKS artworks and we got to meet lots of friends, collectors and new people.

Erica and Spook made the effort to come see the show with the kids: Tim and Stephanie. Did you know I completed the 2017 ABSA Cape Epic with Spook. It was Spooks 1st finish and my 3rd.

Monday I worked in the studio and Richie made me a new 2022 stamp that I use to sign my paintings. Not like I need it but it’s tradition to do a r i c h a r d stamp each year.

Angelina taught me how to make WhatsApp stickers so I made one for all the women in my life who I love and who take care of me.

Tuesday was Women’s Day and a public holiday in South Africa. Joanne took the opportunity to treat me to a manicure and a pedicure at the Life Day Spa in Century City. I have never had either as I have always bitten my nails. But as you know, I don’t bite my nails anymore. Afterwards, Joanne treated me to an old style South African Steak house lunch.

Wednesday, I got stuck into the studio with the RECYCLED spray cans. I took a lot of videos to produce a Tik Tok Video. The aim was to try beat the ROADS WORK’s Tik Tok that Angelina posted that went viral and got 7800+ views.

I was browsing Instagram and on Elton John’s feed was a picture of Olivia Newton John. I went cold. Why would Elton post a picture of himself way back when. So I googled Olivia Newton John and oh dear she passed away. I remember watching GREASE as a kid at the drive-in with her and John Travolta. Even as I type this a flood of feelings goes through my body. She was so beautiful and as a young kid I idolized her and John Travolta and had all the posters stuck up on my bedroom wall. Rest in Peace Olivia, you changed my life and inspired me. It’s quite canny/strange how Joanne looks like Olivia. I finally got my poster girl in life.

The picture I saw in Elton John’s IG feed. Credit to the photographer.

Thursday was Richie’s 20th Birthday. Wow. I can remember being 20 myself in 1988 and wondering what it would be like to get to 2000. Well it is 2022, 22 years after that and here I am with Richie flying. I bought some delicious pastries from Jason’s Bakery in Green Point for tea to celebrate with Richie, you don’t get better than Jason’s Bakery.

Thursday, I popped into the shop to catch up and then headed back to the studio to finish up. I popped out to see my new FNB business banker Graham Kotze.

What was supposed to be a 15min meeting ended up in 1hr as Graham was fascinated with the Art World and my business.

After finalizing some banking with Graham I headed to ORMS to sign a new print that John from Hout Bay Gallery sold. I realized that I wasn’t gonna make it in time so I stopped off at the shop and had a chat and beer with Andre and Rob about the Japanese Economy. Rob is a very smart man.

Friday, I woke up with Joanne and headed into town. I love spending every minute I can with her. After dropping Joanne at her work I headed to the shop and did a quick check in with Chad. Then I headed to my 9am therapy session with Nadia. It went very well and I walked out so refreshed and clear minded. After Nadia I headed to ORMS to sign that print and back to the shop to meet Marco Garbero to discuss Art Insurance with him as he wanted to update his insurance policy on my Art he has in his collection. After that I headed out to fetch Joanne and her son Dean to pick up his car. I was tasked to drive home with him. It was hair raising but I got him into the fast lane on the N1 at 120km/hr. Step dad stuff.

Brandon sent us some pics of the 999 Ducati being serviced. As mentioned in a previous blog Richie and I own 2 of them which we planning to sell to buy a new engine for the aeroplane.

I’ve ridden this beauty but only into 2nd gear at 180km/h

Saturday, Joanne put in a few hours of work at a workshop with her boss, Craig, that he did about Advanced Mediation. Afterwards, we headed to Constantia to do some mushroom foraging. We managed to get a few nice mushrooms and then headed home.

Joanne fished up work and we catching up before we went mushroom foraging

On the way back from Constantia, we stopped off at Woolies to get a Gammon. Both Joanne and I were craving Gammon for some reason. We bumped into Martin, the owner of Col’Cacchio Big bay. He was gambling in the open. LOL.

Meet Martin. Eat Martins Pizza, its yummy 🙂

Ian, our estate agent from Jawitz, messaged us Saturday afternoon and asked if we can have a show house Sunday (today). Here are the Jawitz adverts.

Here is a link to the Jawitz Website:

After getting home and cooking the Gammon for Sunday lunch we  cleaned up the house a bit and before we knew it we had to go out for supper. I booked a table for the whole family at Melkbos Kitchen. We were celebrating Richie’s 20th Birthday. The food was very good considering we live in a tiny West Coast village. I was very impressed. Richie had the Chicken burger and so did Victoire and Dean. Angelina opted for the chicken curry. Chad, Joanne and I shared a seafood platter for 2 as you know, Joanne and I don’t eat much. We prefer smaller portions of good food.

Camilla, a friend and collector of my art, sent me a wonderful photo of one of the lighthouse cushions in her and Gonzi’s Noordhoek home. It’s so cool when people send you photos of casually enjoying your art. It’s a beautiful picture of Cape Town’s winter.

My Lighthouse. 60 x 60cm. Here is a link to the Bull Denim cushion on my online shop: https://richardscottshop.myshopify.com/collections/cushions

I took a screenshot of the website to show you the different options you can purchase.

Well its Sunday now and we went for a nice long run on the beach. We are trying to get to 5km. Today we ran 4.2km. After that we had an early Sunday lunch. Gammon and Coleslaw. Then Joanne cleaned around the house while I put the fire ashes onto the compost heap. I then packed the wood for the week and did a little prep admin for tomorrow. After that were gonna watch a movie as the show house was delayed to next week because the weather is not that great. I’m also gonna see if I can get a Sunday Tik Tok up about the pool.

The seasons are turning. The vegetable garden is growing and the wood is running out.

Until next week. Thanks for reading and viewing.

Richard
